Here is the finds I got...mostly on last Saturdays Hunt. I did get out for awhile on Sunday and for about an hour or so on Wednesday Night and added a few more to the finds. Well......Let's get to the story and the finds.
Saturday, Dale, Tim and I decided to head up North this time for a change and see if we couldn't find some keepers here in North Dakota. First spot was on the way to our destination. We were driving and came across a Church and someone was outside so I told Tim to pull over so I could go talk to them. The guy was the Grounds Keeper for the Church and I asked if it would be alright to detect in the church parking area and perhaps the yard a bit. He said no problem since he was in charge of the upkeep and told me just to make sure not to make a mess or leave any holes/junk behind. I told him no problem and explained a bit how we went about retrieving any items. He wished us luck and off we went.
The Church Yard was fairly small and didn't take long to hunt that. Dale got a Wheatie and Tim also found a Wheatie. I ended up finding a Barber Dime, Indian Head, Buffalo Nickel, and a couple Wheats. 1 Wheatie came from the parking area which was gravel. Tim said he had stopped before and gotten some Silver Quarters here years ago in the parking area but they must have put more gravel down over the years so whatever is there is too far down for the detectors to locate them. We spent only about a half hour here and we were off to the next spot.
Next spot was where an Old Consolidated School was....actually a town that is no longer in existence. Dale knocked at the house across the road from here and went inside. About 25 minutes later, Dale comes out and tells us that the guy inside was friends with another friend of his so they knew each other already. What are the odds of that happening out in the middle of nowhere??? Anyways, Dale told us we had permission to hunt any of the land around the School, Store, and townsite. We even got permission to hunt two Old Farmsteads.
We started hunting where the School was at one time. You could tell that the land was bulldozed where this School and Store sat so long ago but we did squeak out a few keepers. Tim got a few Wheats and a Junior Fireman's Badge with the pin still intact which was a really neat find. Dale ended up getting a few Wheats and a Walking Liberty Half Dollar. I ended up finding a Buffalo Nickel, and a few Wheats. Tim then decided to go over into a farm field where broken glass was scattered all about. He managed to pull out a Barber Quarter and a Canadian Fishscale 5
