More power down to the coil...

Anybody ever figured out how to get into the software setup? I mean the area behind what we see on the screen. I'm interested to know if it's possible to tell the machine to run hotter. You know like the way a CB radio can be juiced up from 4 watts to say 10-15 watts to give a little better distance. Just my tinkering mind wandering again, can't help myself.

I dont know that powers the issue as much as it is to control the results... otherwise just turn up your sensitivity and gain and put it on DEEP. Its that darn EMI and in sum cases the moisture and soil content. Dont those CB guys sometime come into conflict with the FCC? But i know where you are coming from. Rumor has it that the owner of Fisher had such a machine..... for his personal use of course. Also, wasnt there someone who was modifying a brand.... uncle somebody's mods? The brand he modified i heard he got some pretty good results. Part of the problem would be with warranty .... they just wouldnt give you any. Otherwise they would give us that needed ability to PLUG IN to the internet world short of just swapping programs. We can do that now without a hookup. Im with you thou.... id love a chance to play around inside the box.

If your machine can run reasonable stable at a site with those settings then you can probably use a bigger coil with success. Order one today and start doing pushups and chin ups to prepare your arm!

But then you have that trade off.... big coil loss of small targets.

If you want to modify a Minelab you are barking up the wrong tree. Everything is protected, there are no schematics available and I've been told that the circuit boards are painted to hide compnent labels. I haven't hear of anyone doing any hacking on the software I'm sure that is juast as protected. There are other brands where people have done some reprogramming that I have red about but They arn't Minelab. Minelad is pretty tight with its secrets.

I have'nt tried them on my Explorer 2, but Panasonic Oxyride Extreme Power batteries sure souped up my White's Goldmaster V- Sat. Worth a try. Hendo:ninja:

FYI...I have been working on a modified Sovereign Amp that will work on Explorers and Etrac's. There are some mounting issues to solve but it puts MUCH more power into the coil than the stock setup. I know depth is really dependant upon ground condition, interference, soil type, etc...but, In my yard, I can ID a quarter at 12in and detect but not ID at 14in.
