Hey there everyone! Here are more finds I was able to find during last weekend. Been busy with work and just got the finds cleaned up so enjoy.
Friday Afternoon, I decided to go out to a Farm near Chaffee, N.D. that I had gotten permission to hunt at. I needed 2 Silver to hit the 100 mark for the month on finds so I thought this would be a good spot to get them. I called Rick(ND) up and told him to come on over since the real reason for permission to hunt the Farm Site was for Rick to get his first Silver for the year. We both hunted for about 2 hours and in that time, there was only a few Oldies found. Rick didn't get a Silver here so he went Silverless once again. Rick only found about 10 New Coins and a Wheatie here. It was worth a shot though. He decided to call it quits around 4:30pm since he was suppose to be back at work at the bar by then and I told him I was going to call it quits at 5:30pm and head over. He left and about 5 minutes later, I finally pulled a '61-d Roosevelt Dime out of the ground. I tried until 5:30 came around and decided to go. I didn't hit the 100 mark for Silver but did get one more Silver for number 99. I also found in this short hunt a Key, a very thin Silver Ring, an Old Tube Of Lipstick that has Helen Neushaefer Everon on it, a Whatzit Item, 5 Wheats and a Shell Token with President Woodrow Wilson on it.
Saturday, Tim and I ventured out again to some different territory having hopes of finding another spot that yielded a lot of finds. We stopped at was a Fairgrounds that Tim and Dan had found some Barbers at. We pulled in and just where Tim had found 3 Barber Quarters, there was now 3 feet of gravel. We were so disgusted we didn't even try any other areas since a lot of it was overgrown and needed to be cut. So we headed over to the City Park for awhile.
The City Park was a tough one, with Tim only finding a couple Wheats. I also got a couple Wheats and some New Coins. We then decided to hit the road and see what else we could find to detect. When we arrived at the next stop, Tim realized that he must have dropped his Lesche Digger with an Extension on it at the previous spot....which was now about 20+ Miles away. Tim said to heck with it, were not going back for it now and pulled out another Lesche he had with him. Guess someone probably found it during the week while mowing grass so it's long gone now.
We came across an older looking Ball Field that looked like it could have some potential. We first drove around town to see what other options we had and found another smaller Ball Diamond and the City Park. We started at the first Ball Field we seen and it didn't take me long to nab 3 Wheats within a few minutes of being there. It proved to be a bit tough to find the Coins we were after so we worked this for a few hours. Tim ended up finding a Silver Quarter, a couple Silver Dimes (Merc's...Rosie's???), and a few Wheats. I was able to pull quite a few Wheats from here along with a Sterling Silver Ring, a couple Merc's, and 1 or 2 Rosie's.
We then tried the Park in town. I got out and did a quick circle and didn't even find a New Coin here and Tim didn't either. We decided to try the small Ball Diamond.
Here, the same results occurred but Tim found a Wheatie. We decided to hit the road and try another Park.
We arrived at a Park that Tim had come across last season. He didn't know if there was stuff here so we decided to give it a try. We started hunting and after about an hour, we decided to hit the road again. Tim found 1 Silver Rosie and a Wheatie or 2. I only found a couple Wheats and a few New Coins.
We came across a few Churches also. We tried these and there was very little to find at any of them. I found an Indian Head and a few Wheats along with a Sterling Silver Pin with B.H.S. on it. Tim found a V-Nickel and a few Wheats also.
We also came across a small Park area next to a Lake. We tried this and was only rewarded with a couple Wheats. It was so windy we didn't stay very long so there could be some Silver's there somewhere. This is where I got the Toy from also.
Last 2 stops for the day was a Park we previously detected at and pulled some Barbers from and a Ball Diamond that Tim and Dan had found a few Silver and Wheats at. The Park was pretty dead from last visit but I managed another Indian Head, a Wheatie and a Silver Rosie. Tim found a Wheatie.
We then headed over to the Ball Diamond. Tim told me that the New Coins were as Deep as the Old Coins so a person almost had to dig everything. We hunted this until dark. Tim was able to find a few Wheats and a War Nickel. I was able to pull a few Wheats, a Silver Quarter, and a Silver Dime. Lots of Clad Coins were dug here but it was kinda fun since you didn't know what you were about to unearth next. It was a tough outing for Tim and I and we both knew that it was about to get tougher which it was. Tim found 5 Silver I believe, a V-Nickel, a War Nickel and a bunch of Wheats. I found 9 Silver on Saturday, a bunch of Wheats, 2 Injuns, and a few trinkets.
Sunday, I decided to go out and see what else I could find solo since Tim stayed home. I hunted a few spots consisting of a Fairgrounds, 2 Parks and a Church. The Church was the first thing I hit in the morning. I pulled a few Wheats along with 3 Silver Rosie's from here. This would turn out to be the best spot on Sunday.
The Fairgrounds was pretty messed up but I was able to pull a few Wheats and a Silver Rosie from here. There could be more keepers here since there was a large area out in the middle where they could have put up Carnivals or had a Ball Field at one time but didn't try it.
I then tried one of the Parks in town and only found a few New Coins and the '77-d Clad Kennedy Half.
I then went to a neighboring town and stopped at the Park there. It was a large Park where Chris(SoCenWis) had found a 1908-s Indian Head last year. I hunted this for a bit and only found a few Wheats, a Barber Dime and The Milwaukee Road Pin. I then decided to quit for the day since it was getting late. I was able to pull 5 Silver though and the Barber Dime was always a welcome site to see.
Totals for finds were 15 Silver and they included 1 Washington Quarter dated 1964-d, 1 Barber Dime dated 1901, 3 Mercury Dimes dated 1924,1942, 1945-d, and 10 Roosevelt Dimes dated (2)1946-d,1948-s,(2)1953-d,1957-d,1959-d,(2)1961-d and 1963-d. I only found 2 Injuns this time out and they are dated 1895 and 1901. I found a Shell Token also which has Woodrow Wilson on it and made of Aluminum. Wheats consisted of 51 of them and there dated 10,18,(3)19,20,20-d,22-d,25,25-d,27-s,30,(3)30-d,32-d,36,37,40,40-d,41,41-s,(3)42-d,(2)44-d,44-s,(3)45-d,46,(4)46-d,46-s,47,47-d,(3)48-d,51-s,52-d,(2)53-d,54-d,55-d,57-d and (2)58-d. For the 3rd weekend in a row now, I have also found another Clad Kennedy Half Dollar. Why can't it be Silver at least???? This one is dated 1977-d. For Misc Items, I found a Whatzit, a Sterling Silver Ring with a Flower Pattern on it, a thin Silver Ring, a Sterling Silver B.H.S. Pin, a Kid's Toy Monkey Ring made of Aluminum, a National Key, an Old Tube of Lipstick with Helen Neushaefer Everon on it, The Milwaukee Road Pin and a Toy Figure. Along with that, a pouch full of Clad but that is good when a lot of it was mainly Quarters and Dimes. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you all if you get out during the 4th of July Weekend.
