Here are some finds from the last couple weeks.
While driving the roads and keeping an eye out for detecting spots, I passed by an old abandoned home with a grass driveway lined with trees. Long story short... I got permission and fired up the machine.

I was hoping for a yard filled with old coins, jewelry and nice surprises, but got a lawn overrun with trash from the road to the house:cry: One of the trashiest sites I've detected.
I managed to find a few wheaties, a buffalo nickel, and this 1828 Half Cent.

Next, are some pics from a couple hunts at one of my fallback sites (when I have no fresh ones). First hunt, I snagged a 52d quarter and a Raleigh Lights belt buckle along with a couple wheats. I thought I might have my second silver dollar when digging the buckle. It sounded good and was reading high half to one dollar on the mxt.

Sunday, I went back and hunted a different section of the site. I did a little woods hunting first and found a cap gun, possible shoe buckle frame, junk horseshoe pin and trash.

Later, I hit the lawn area. when searching here, you dig anything that repeats. For some reason , the yard area can throw the target id off, so..... dig everything:biggrin:
Well, after diggin some junk, I got a bouncy (but repeatable) signal. Out popped two Indian head pennies:thumbup: I reswept the coil and got another signal a few inches away.. out came another IH:smoke:

The backs are in even better condition than the fronts, but since I've already used the maximum pics allowed... you wont see them:sadwalk::lol:

I'm gonna be tryin a new place tomorrow. Not expecting to find a lot, but what I do find could be pretty old:cool:

Thanks for lookin,
Matt

such eye-appealing detail. As a kid, I would go to the" Five and Dime" store ( you surely are toooooo young to know what these were ) , and I would go straight to the toy section and scrutinize the many shiny cap guns, and rifles....too expensive , according to Mom, but I loved handling them and dreaming of owning one.

thanks for posting the pics...a bit of nostalgia for me.

Well Matt that's grabbing opportunity and squeezing some good finds from it. Digging the repeatable signals was really smart as I know you understand this. It's hard to explain to some new to the hobby/sport that VDI readings are not always reliable. Tone ID has been my first clue to slow down.
Congrats on jumping on that!
