I went to Coins+ and picked up some more coin holders and supplies. Also picked up 500 unsearched wheat pennies. Now you know they are really unsearched. Anyway, when we got back to town, I went out detecting at the home of the lady from our church who died recently, where I found the old ladies compact I posted a couple of weeks ago. Found about 43 cents in clad and memorials. Found an old railroad spike from the old rail line that ran through that area of the city some years back. Almost ready to head for the truck when I get a pretty good signal about 8 feet from where I found that old compact. Dug down about 5 inches and there lays another old compact, about the size of a half dollar. I pull it out and shake it and I can tell there is something inside. Got back to the truck to show Joan. When I opened it up, I found the pad still inside, and two metal objects. One I could not tell what it was. The other I could see a Swastika symbol on one side. The mirror is cracked on the compact, but otherwise is in good shape. Went on down to the city park to hit another area and I saw a fellow I go to church with who was detecting. I showed him the token I had and he said he had one in his store once and a guy said it was a Girl Scout Good Luck Token. Said they used the Swastika symbol before the Nazis took it over. Got home and cleaned it up some. It says "Made for the Boy Scouts" and "Manufactured by the Excelsior Shoe Co. Portsmouth, O.
Any idea on this Token. I enjoyed uncovering that item.
