most of us use multiple detectors --> what is your favorite and what kind of hunting you are doing with it... pls keep it in subject line ... thanks..

Thanks everyone.... I really enjoy and value the interaction of this group .... (insert grain of salt) ..

I could research detectors for the rest of my life and not get a lot of mixed reviews.... This group ..( or at least 15 or 20 of us) uses them a lot and you find great stuff..... so I place a lot of weight on the units you are using.
I haven't gotten a new detector in a long time .... have an excalliber that I used a lot in Oregon but not in missouri, also 1236x2 which is a good machine, but I always seem to find myself going to the troy shadow x2 in crappy ground.... it's a great machine.
I'd like to try an shadow x5 .... and an explorer.... but since money is tight I have to agree with Vernon's statement...
Probably my best choice for another great all around machine is the XLT.... I tried my friends XLT quite a few years ago but remember it wasn't to heavy and worked well. So now it's time to start saving (don't tell my wife ). and maybe I can buy a good used one in the fall.

:beers: Mike

the MXT, another good solid machine that can do everything the XLT can and more, I had both and if I were in your shoes I would go with the MXT but that's just my opinion and everybody has one

I now own the Explorer XS and Explorer 2 ;) and have for many years and done very well with both in many different states around the country, found four large cents in four different states in four different hunting conditions, New York, Michigan, Alabama and Massachusetts, pretty good ground mix there.

Hunted a Island with the Cap'tin off the cost of Maine and found a 1853 3 cent'er, civil war token, 1862 fatty, 1857 flying eagle, 1877 seated dime all in a area that was suppose to be clean out by the XLT'S and DFX in three hours

Found two cent pieces in three different states, found half dollars in four different states, found silver in nine different states not to mention the old coppers and mini balls and so on and so on. Why am I telling you this Mikie, I just want you to know that Minelab makes a pretty good machine also as do Whites and Fisher and so on. I'm sold on the Minelab line because I can prove it but I do want to get one more machine some day and when I do I will make Eddie very happy, the Whites TDI, there is no better hot ground and relic hunter then the TDI and Keith has proven that time and again with his great finds at the DVI hunts and other hunts :clapping:

If I were you Mikie, jump on a MXT before the XLT but that's just my humble opinion, once learned bet you would love that MXT, ask Ed, he writes books on this stuff, he knows his stuff and will help ya

Explorer XS on the Explorer 2 and I was good to go, never looked back or sent my machine in, after all, I can only swing one machine at a time

Mike, I would go with the MXT, very light machine and solid, what I'm trying to say if your gonna spend $300 on a used XLT might as well wait and spend $500 on the next level machine, a used MXT, it's common sense

Hey bud, I would give ya my Explorer XS because I haven't used it in 8 years since the Explorer 2 but I just gotta know that my old warrior is there if I ever need her just in case :clapping:

To go anywhere south o' the 'line' is to go to gritland.
To travel in a southwardly direction is to .."grit".

I think you would like the MXT, very light and a pretty damn good mechine that will find finds, Mikie, even though I use the Explorer, I think you would love the MXT because I did when I had it not to mention the price was right
