My 1st hunt with the Etrac

kickback

New member
Today was my first hunt with the Etrac.I went to an old park(at least for around here).I have found some Mercury dimes and Wheaties here with the SE.I got a 1936 D Buffalo nickel that is in excellent condition and a 1934 Wheatie.Found a couple of clad coins also. The park is a city block square and has big trees on the north and south sides.I have the tree grove on the north done.I like the Etrac a lot better than my SE.Had one problem after about 15 minutes of hunting the coil was wobbling. The end of the coil rod where the coil bolt goes through came off the lower coil rod.The was no evidence of it being glued on.I slipped a thin piece of cardboard in when I put the two pieces back together so I could finish the hunt.Lower coil rods are on back order.Any idea what would be a good glue to glue this back on?Thanks.Bill

Congratulations on the new machine Bill! Looking forward to seeing your finds! Thanks for the rundown on the type of site your hunting!

Except for the coil/rod malfunction, it sounds like you had a good hunt. Congratulations on the finds. Since the lower rod is carbon fiber and the attachment is made of plastic, if it were me, I'd use a two-part epoxy to glue it back together. The local hardware store would have it.

Good luck on your next outing. Post some pictures if you get a chance.
