My 1st Platinum

Hi! I was out the other day hunting an old city park. I was in a soccer field and got a low sound and a 12-10 which from experience usually turns out to be a 1/2 pulltab or a cut up piece of aluminum can. I decided to dig it anyway. To my surprise it was a very tiny sterling earring. About 15 minutes later I was in the outfield of a softball field and got a nice pulltab sound and a 12-15. Again from experience that is a solid pulltab number. Because of my earlier experience with the sterling earring I decided to dig it. Boy am I happy I did. Out came what I thought was a big silver man's wedding band. Then I thought that can't be because it should be a 12-46. Could it be white gold? No again it should be a 12-30 something. I wondered if it could be platinum but couldn't read the small marking inside the band. When I got home and put on my magnified glasses I could read PT 950.I couldn't believe it and can't get over how close I was to not digging it.It certainly has me thinking about what signals to dig and where.

I have found my share of gold rings, but never found a platinum. I sure look forward to the day I find my first platinum ring......Jack

When I bought my husbands Platinum wedding band for our wedding, I paid over $500 (wholesale because of connections)
That was twenty-three years ago!
Amazing and congrats

Super find! I haven't found a gold ring in a long time at a park. I mostly cherry pick for wheat's and silver but do dig all nickel hits and some pull tab numbers each time out. Have to get lucky sooner or later. I've read many posts that say you'll average a gold ring for some many pull tabs dug, . Well I'm here to tell you I'm way over due :detecting:

Nice call on digging those numbers. WTG!

You were in a prime spot for jewelry. I'd think there would be a lot less chances for PT's in the outfield. Now the sidelines might be a different matter. Congratulations on the jewelry.
