Hey, Ravenge, you couldn't be more "right on" here as far as I'm concerned. I had the same problem when I first got my Quatro, and I even started getting a little "attitude" going because of just what you said. I was thinking, "Gee, I'm a pretty smart guy, I've had other detectors and stuff and what's all these crazy noises going on here". I did what you did and stuck with it, and I also bought Andy Sabisch's book Mastering the Quatro, and by going through that step by step and just practicing with it, I too, finally started to sort out the different sounds. When I reflect on all this now, I think that the Quatro is so sensitive that it just picks up a "ton" of information and we just have to learn to sort it out. One thing that really helped me get over the frustration thing is that I bought a 5" coil for the really trashy areas and that really helped to sort the different noises out. You can really zero in on individual targets better with the 5", but I hear that it won't go as deep as the bigger coils, so I usually use the standard coil that came with the detector. I live in San Diego, California, and I've used other detectors, but I've never had one that came anywhere close to how well the Quatro works at the beach or anywhere else for that matter. I'm just knocked out how I almost never have any ground problems, i.e. chattering or falsing at the beach. I used to have tons of mineralization and salt water falsing with my other units, but very, very rarely with Quatro, and talk about deep. I mean deep, and if you don't believe me, ask Mike from Virginia Beach. You guys take care out there and everybody have a nice Christmas. Who knows, maybe Santa will bring us some extra accessories for our detectors if we're good boys and girls, but then again maybe not, but
"who cares"? We've got the main accessory we need for metal detecting and that's a Minelab Quatro. Boy, I'm really on my soap box here!!! Guess I better go grab a cup of coffee and shut up. :|:O
