My Deus is blind to nickel

sinkhronicity

New member
Hello everyone, I was out detecting with my buddy who uses a Whites. He found a 1994 Canadian quarter (99.9% pure nickel) and I asked him to drop it on the ground so I could see how the Deus would ring it up. To my surprise (and horror) I could not get the Deus (3.2 version) to recognize the quarter, give me a VDI or even make a blip. I went through the factory programs and my custom program...nothing. Has anyone else noticed this? No wonder I have never found a Canadian quarter and very few American nickels (75% copper, 25% nickel). Thank you and good luck!

Not sure about Canadian quarters but I've found plenty of us nickles from v nickles to current.

The Deus doesn't seem to hit nickels as hard as the CTX but certainly doesn't pass on them. You may have a disc , frequency , VDI notch , normalization thing going on.

Strange?? I hit two war nickles yesterday about 7" down no problem I'm in basic mode

Shouldn't be a problem since they were .999 nickel from 1968 to 1999. I lived in Manitoba from 1979 to 1988 and found plenty with a homemade detector I built from a magazine. I lived across the street from a city park. Since 1999 they are mostly steel and would likely read as bottlecaps.

My deus is a nickel fiend. Did you try moving the nickel to different spots? Even if your not notching, the defaults on some of the programs could cause the nickel to be masked by something under it such as iron or a bottle cap.0000

Strange, Try full tones bet that gives you a signal.

Paul

Same here...got a V a few weeks ago.....

I really never had any issues.....why don't you upgrade to 4.0? Maybe that will sort of reset things for you....give you a peace of mind?

I got two nickels tonight, I was going to pass because they were so loud, thought they were going to be square tabs.
