My E-trac died!!!

My E-trac wouldn't turn on today. I followed the troubleshooting steps in the Instruction Manual. When that didn't work, I called Minelab. They told me to send it in. Made a video so people can follow along. Dan

More to come.....

Oh wow, bad news. :stretcher:
Keep us posted on how it turns out and what went wrong.
I'll keep my fingers crossed for a fast return for you!

It's only been gone a little over 4 hours, but I miss my baby!!

Sorry to hear that Dan. Did you have to send the coil back as well, or just the control box?

...If she comes back to you, It was meant to be! Great flick, the end was a real tear jerker! :buds:

Man I hate that for you. I noticed mine started acting up a bit last week. It would turn off every couple minutes after a battery change.
I continued to use it and after awhile it started acting right and has not give me anymore problems so I hope this was just a fluke. Who knows I could be sending mine in before long also. I hope you get your machine back quickly without any hitches.

I press the power button and sometimes it will turn back off about half the way through the startup tune. Then I press power again and it starts up ok. I hope that it doesn''t completely fail one day. It has done this ever since I got it. Maybe i'll send it in sometime this winter.

Did yours give any hints that it was going to fail?

Id send that in this winter for sure..Thats not right.Mine has always fired up 1 push.

Hmmm, mine did the same thing about a week after I first got it. I took out the battery holder and messed with the tabs inside the battery compartment a bit, cleaned them and it has been working since.

For jbow - I have read on one of these forums something similar to what you are describing. I think the fix was to make sure the ribbon cable going from the display to the PCB is connected tightly. This does mean removing the cover so it might not be something you would be comfortable doing. Just putting it out there is all!

I am pretty much a geek so anytime I can avoid sending things in for repairs I will.

The detector didn't give me any hints it was going to fail. I hunted with it a few hours the day before with no problem.

No. I had a Fisher CZ7a. I sold it to help pay for the E-trac. My right arm can use the rest. I've been dealing with tendonitis and elbow pain. I can use the rest to heal up some.

According to UPS's website, my E-trac is now in Las Vegas, Nevada where Minelab USA is located. They attempted to deliver the detector but Minelab was closed. Seems like a big company like that would be open for business on a Friday at 10:18 a.m. UPS says on their tracking site they will attempt to deliver it again. My hope was that they would receive the detector today, fix it and perhaps overnight it back to me. Oh, well. Wishful thinking.

It didn't fail, it just turns off sometimes as it is just starting up. I press the power button again and it starts up.
