My first belt plate and fattie

Bartman

New member
Got out for a few this afternoon and managed two firsts, my first US belt plate and an 1860 fattie. I almost didn't dig the belt plate as it was only 4-5" and rang quite loud on the t2. Unfortunately, both came off a piece that has been flooded by high salt water tides in the past, so they are pretty corroded. Any ideas on how to clean up the belt plate? I'm thinking olive oil.

Yes indeedy........another heartstopper find.............congrats............be very careful in the cleaning process....I am sure you will be.

Good going!

Contact the Ohio Digger. I think he has had very good success with electrolysis. Low voltage cleaning process that a lot of people use on finds such as yours. Good luck. Great finds by the way. HH :teknetics::minelab:
