I bought a Explorer SE Pro about a week ago.I took it to an old church camp along a lake today.The high was 26 degrees.I set it up as recommended on this forum and started finding coins!!! I now know what 00 28 is,the first coin was a 1936 quarter at 8 inches.The SE pinpoints just fine.I found another clad quarter,2 Canadian pennies,and a clad dime.The top 5 inches of ground is frozen so I had to chip that away before I could really dig.Now I have to learn what numbers correspond to coin denominations.I know this isn't a big score coin wise but this place has been pounded and I was surprised to find anything there.The low temp last night was 13 degrees,that made the ground real hard.Saturday it's supposed to warm up.If it does I'm going to a little honey hole that has yielded silver and wheaties the last 3 trips.Bill

My first hunt with an Explorer,WOW!!

Looks like your off to a great start with you new addition being the Explorer there Kickback, nice find and there is probably a few more waiting for you. With 5" of frozen ground it's time to get out the jackhammer or weed-burner to thaw the ground to dig anymore. Looks as if you have the Winter to bone up on learning abilities for the numbers. Personally I never really got into the numbers but went more or less for the sound, cursor and depth indicators. Good luck on your next outing if there is one this year. Looking forward to any pictures you may post in the future.

I've just started to use the Explorer a couple of month ago and really impressed with the performance of this metal detector in worked out areas.The hunter's on this forum are a good group I've learned a lot and they are very supportive.Good Luck HH Ron.

Kickback and dig around - don't remember where but some folks have made charts to what the numbers typically correspond. I have seen a few charts in a few formats. Good idea to print some out and laminate them to carry along for awhile - well that's what I did. Google others too.
