Finding a mercury dime always makes my day and since they are rather rare in Canada, finding one makes it even better.
This is the result of my 2 last Saturday hunts. I didn't find as much silver as I'm used to but lots of copper. Apart from the 1918 large cent, 1929 penny and 1943 victory "copper" nickel shown here, I found at least 30 pennies from the 30's to the 60's that are not shown here for lack of space. The large cent surprised me because I found it in an area where the targets were few and far between and it's in an unusually good condition for its age. The merc is in a sad state and paper thin but I could still read the date (191
. I also found another Canadian silver dime from 1956, a ski school badge from J Decat of Paris which from my research was made in the early 40's. Unfortunately the back pin is missing. The cross is common fare here (I must have found a dozen religious pendants through the years). I'm not sure about the dog tag. I was unaware that they even existed in 1935. In a big city like Montreal, it's possible that dogs had to be registered/licensed I guess.
I'm getting as much detection time in the woods in while it is still cool outside. Soon the mosquitoes and deer flies will be out and I will have to switch location to more open ground. HH everyone.
