I spent about 2 hours at my old vacant 1860 farmhouse that I have permission to hunt. First target was a '65 Memorial, then a really nice skeleton key. Then I got an 11-42 maybe 7". When it came up I noticed how big it was and thought "what the heck is this?" Well, it turns out it's a Morgan Dollar. However, I'm almost 100% certain it's an era counterfiet. I've been told counterfeits from the era are more rare than the actual silver Morgan Dollar themselves but I still would have loved to pop a big silver like that out of the ground. I also ended up with an 1852 LC in really nice shape, an old button, and a Montreal Canada agricultural token circa 1837-1838 with the words "UN SOU" on the back. All in all it was still a great short hunt. I'm going to keep looking for the real Morgan, it's out there somewhere waiting to be unearthed.
