And like Don said ... take it to a Jeweler and let him look at the diamonds and see what he thinks.
My local Jeweler looks at my better finds for free - but some will charge you for an opinion.

Nice Ring! I would go have it checked for sure. I found a small diamond pendant one time that I thought was just a fake piece of costume jewelry at first. It ended up being a real 3/4 carrot diamond.
