My first sidewalk tear out experience

Came across a small sidewalk tear out last week and made a point of hitting it this past weekend. I didn't realize that the city uses metal forms instead of 2X4's, so that made it a bit challenging to me. I just couldn't get the coil to close to the forms even when I started dropping the sensitivity. I think I was down into the lower teens and those forms were ringing in at the 12-40. Still, I was able to pull a couple of goodies for the 1 hour hunt.

Jamestown Ter Centennial Fob / Medallion?, '58 Wheatie, and the clad penny & dime.

I think I'm gonna love these tear out projects, just gotta go on a recon to find more.

That is a really cool fob and in nice condition. Looks like the sidewalk protected it somewhat. If the E-trac has a smaller coil, you may want to use that. It may bring you closer to the metal forms and storm sewers and in between junk targets. There was a big side walk tear out in my town about 4 years ago (they did the tree lawns too) and we used small coils since the stuff wasn't deep and got us between junk targets. HH

Been trying to find a small coil for the past few months and it looks like the market has really sucked them up. Rather pay for a used one than full price. Now I wish I wouldn't have sold the 4.5X7 Excellerator or the 5" Sunray, as I could really use them now. Oh well, one will come around eventually.
