For many, many years, I have maintained a small nest egg of funds that I call my "Happy Fund!" The money that I put into this fund comes from many different sources...an item sold on eBay, pocket change found with a metal detector, a few extra dollars saved after paying expenses at the end of the month, even money sent to me as a gift will often be put in this "Happy Fund."
This "Happy Fund" is for one purpose only, and that it is to be used to make other folks happy. One of the biggest enjoyment that I get out of life is to see a big, happy grin on someone's face. I consider all folks to be very important people with a story to tell...they just need the opportunity to tell the story. They need to know that someone out there cares about them, that they are truly important to others.
I keep my eyes and ears open when I am attending a social function, while at the store, while reading a newspaper, even when reading the posted messages on a Forum...I am always on the "look out" to see if there is a situation where as I can do something to put a smile on a fellow person's face. Many times, I will forward a small gift to them with no return address because I do not want anything in return. With no return address, they will always wonder about who it was that took a few moments to do something that put a smile on their face...and that is the way it should always be!
There are other times that I will forward a small gift to someone that I know, with the understanding that it will not be disclosed. This is my way of telling that person that they are indeed important to others, that you do care about their well being! Everyone likes to know that they are not alone in this world, that someone out there cares!
I always make it clear that I do not want anything in return...don't ruin my enjoyment by trying to send something in return. It is stressed that my greatest enjoyment is having the means to make someone happy, even if just for a moment. In a way, I guess that you could say that the best gift that could ever be given to me would be to see that smile on their face!
Some of you folks reading this posted message might consider establishing your own version of my "Happy Fund." Trust me, it will bring you great enjoyment! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)
