My Oldest Coin yet with the Omega

I was super stoked when i found this, you would think i just unearthed a million dollars. It was exciting

It was about 4" deep, and it kept jumping around pulltab-nickel, it was kind of on edge. On another site i may well have passed it by, but i know this one was a trading post before the indians were removed in 1838, and also a general store in the area later on. So ive kinda been through pickin all the junk off the top and now workin it slow and steady, and can't wait to see what i pull next. I've been working exclusivly with the stock coil for quite some time, and actually tomorrow am ordering the 11"DD coil, and then eventually the 5". Shoulda got the package way back when but live and learn. I can't wait to see the monster this thing will be with a DD.

Just remember that a coin's age (wear and alloy content), position, depth, ground conditions and such can cause them to "read' off a little or be a bit jumpy. You made the right call by considering the site and digging it all.

I like the 10" concentric elliptical coil. The 5" is my second favorite coil. I wouldn't get all that excited to the point of referring to the 11" DD coil as a "depth monster" but you can make that decision on how it works for you in your hunting environments. just be patience and learn the best and most efficient sweep speed for it compared with the stock concentric coil

Happy Hunting, an I hope your next "oldest coin" comes your way soon!

he 11" DD coil is 1" deeper But the separation you get between targets is worth it, once you put on the DD you may not take it off. HH:detecting:

Yes i was referring to the DD as "separation monster", I'm not too interested in depth. More interested in "hearing" more information. I pulled a small makeup compact circa 1920 around 8" so i know the depth is there. Just want to be able to hear a few more signals in amongst the grunts, my nephew says it "farts" when i pull the headphones off for him. :bouncy:

Great find! I would have been really excited to find that as well.

I got away for about 5 hours this morning and used the 11" DD exclusively at a site I "test/compare" every make and model and every accessory coil I get my hands on. Yes, the 11" DD did separate some targets reasonably well, depending upon the direction of sweep. I' still like the stock 10" concentric, but will head back there next Saturday for a day of hunting and have the 5" DD mounted. The trash level is extreme! Pull tabs and beer caps and screw caps and old glue tubes from the era of sniffing, and .... just a LOT! Anyway, when I want the best separation, I also want the smallest 'footprint.' The 5" coil's the ticket for me in junk-filled locations.

It's produced Merc.s and Barber's for me in the past with smaller-than-stock coils. Neither of us got silver today. :( It was chilly, foggy, drizzly and somewhat unpleasant, too.

I plan on getting the 5" coil soon enough, ordered the 11" today. Had to pay for it with the clad ive found through the past year, because the Bank of My Wife currently has put a hold on all accounts, lol.
