Bunky- Oh man ! LOL. Thanks for the interest. We know the joke about excuses, but it's not cleaning up as well as I had hoped for. It's been soaking since last Thurs. in olive oil. I take it out daily , clean it with old toothbrush, get dissatisfied results & bathe it again. Used baking soda (sparingly). May now try vinegar or Worcestershire sauce (I read that discoloring may happen on nickles, so I'll need to keep a close eye on those solutions). I've taken some pics but they're poor in detail and not worth boring our community with. I hope to post this evening.. Thanks again.

Have you tried coke or diet coke yet to clean your coins?Hoppe's number 9 gun solvent coke is cheaper and the kids always leave some in the can they do not finish.

Well, let it sit overnight in the sauce, not much help...so removed it and put back into olive oil for the day as had to leave for work. Will try Prep's cola solution this evening....brings up long ago memory of accidently spilling some coke on the hood of a car and later seeing paint finish somewhat ruined later that day....

Good looking coin I may have to try the oil bath for mine. I am a little nervous about messing with it much. How long did you let it soak. It must have been a while! Thanks for posting.

Thanks Bunky. It's still a work in progress. Soaked in olive oil for a week, briefly removed each night for a light tooth brushing. Then tried worcestershire sauce bath for a couple more days, then employed Prep's suggestion of cola for a couple hours on and off. Right now, it's back in the olive oil. I should have time to hit same site over the weekend with wife going to visit daughter in Baton Rouge this weekend.

Sounds good, hit it hard!!! I have to go to work tomorrow. Hope to hit a farm in Alabama on Sunday.
Good luck,
