National Metal Detecting Day?

MrGee

New member
I have a postcard that declares that tomorrow, Sat. May 18th is National Metal Detecting Day. I'm not sure who declared it, but I sounds good to me!

I believe Minelab started it. Its a series of competition type hunts around the world that people can pay to go to and hope to win prizes.

The postcard was given to me by a neighbor and it is indeed from Minelab. Wasn't sure I wanted to mention a name before, but it's from them. No indication on it that it is ONLY a Minelab event. I've never had any dealings with them and was surprised to see that their mailing address is in Lisle, Illinois. I always thought they were based out west somewhre/

Minelab was, up until a few yrs ago, a one owner company. Then it was bought out by a bigger company. It is and has always been a Australian company, with the machines being manufactured in Ireland, and now Malaysia.

You can use any brand at these events, although if you talk with their sales reps there and the other sponsors they are probably gonna try and convert you.
