Need a little technical advice!!!!

Just put on a sunray pinpointer. Seems all targets are reading one number higher than what the coil reads. Example: Coil on quarter reads 46 with pinpointer reads 47. Also dime read 44 with coil and 45 with pinpointer. Just wondered if this is normal . Any advice is appreciated as I just put it on and would like to know if it is ok! thanks.. these were all air tests and coin close to coil/probe

Believe me when your out hunting and you stick the probe in the hole, all you will care about is the tone matching and a one digit difference your ears can't tell the difference. Once I have the hole dug I like putting the detector in pinpoint mode so that the probe puts me right on top of the coin to see if it's on edge and I don't scratch it, half of the fun is digging it up nice and slow.

thanks I understand one number is no big deal. just want to make sure everything is ok with it othrwise. If all others that have the probe read the same as the coil reads then I would be concerned, hope you see what I mean...thanks

Arturo, I guess I need to check my probe again as my probe doesn't give a signal in pinpoint... I works in quick mask and in reg coin mode discrimination, but doesn't get a signal in pinpoint? Maybe I gave up too easily and need to try it again. Anyone else notice this?

P.S. My No.s seem to match Sonny

You should Be getting a match with the coil and the probe Im almost 100% positive.(I use the probe when making patterns inside sometimes). Also if you arent getting a signal in pin-point something is wrong.Call Ralph or post a message in the Sun-Ray forum. He will reply quickly.Keep us posted on the results .Good Luck

My probe on my E-Trac doesn't work in pin point mode in the hole as well - however if I have it in pin point mode and put it right on my 14K wedding band iit does respond on it - thought that this was a little odd if other folks are getting it to work in the hole on pin point.

Remeber, there are two settings for pinpoint. One rachets the signal down. I'm guessing that setting would dictate no signal in the hole. I've only had my E-Trac for three weeks, so I could be in error. Just a thought.

keep on diggin'

My old Explorer XS and Explorer II would pinpoint with the X-1 probe, there is something wrong if it don't pinpoint and I wouldn't have one if it didn't pinpoint. It helps in making same holes when digging around grass.

Yep, use sizing pinpoint and the probe works fine with that.

I use normal pinpoint, so by changing to sizing it does work..?????? I wonder what makes the difference?
Anyway THANKS GUYS!!!
