need help identifying age of foundation

I searched a brick home foundation with a basement that had a concrete floor in it. The only thing that was left was the basement walls. What time frame did they start doing this. The oldest thing i found was a 1919 wheat penny and i wouldn't think they would have done this back then?

What were the walls made out of, rocks, cut stone, tile or cinder blocks? Round rocks were used where there was no access to sandstone quarries. Concrete could have been added to any old floor.

the walls of the basement/foundation appear to be fairly old brick as they are solid and not completely square on the corners.

My best guess would be turn of the century.

Bricks can go back to colonial times. Although they were thinner back then and mostly used in the parts of a chimney. I would suspect that the cement may have been poured later, as most cellars I have seen were dirt. But cement goes back a long ways too. I would guess (without a picture) that it can be anywhere from around 1880's and up.

Check the city/county records/maps and see when they show a bldg on that property. Fire Insurance Maps are good too.
