need help identifying this band

found another band need help identifying,it has ILL DEPT AGRI 1948

That is a livestock (hog or bovine) ear tag.

Looks like a bird band to me (goose), but I'm no expert. I found a similar one which was still around the leg bone.

Yep, looks like a duck or goose tag. They still put these on birds to track the population and occasionally you will kill a bird with one on it (if you are hunting that is).

Go to ILL DEPT of AGRICULTRE on the internet and type in that ID# and it will identify what it was on and where it was tagged. Don't seem like the Dept. of Agriculture would tag a bird but when you find out let us know.
