Need pinpointer

I have two of the cheaper bounty hunter and Fisher pointer that is packages with some metal detector combo packs. They do work. I finaly wore the tip off one and repaired with with epoxy, still working. It is not a Garetts however, and does not have the light, and has only one sound but does have a built in vibrator. It is not perfect but then if bought separately you can get one for about $40 and they are easy to handle, unlike the square box kind Whites sell and harbor frieht sells. The Garretts is better I am sure but try to find one under $120. The Bounty, Fisher pointer can be found on Amazon. They nave to nearly touch the coin but if the soil is wet or moist its pickup range is increased and no matter what you might think when you are looking at that clump of soil or in the hole this little tool is worth every penny, as opposed to every dollar. If all you can afford or want to spend under $50 then don't bother with the other cheap models go for this one, but if you have made some great finds and have some extra cash then I would go for the Garrett, but really I think paying $40 for any of these devices, Garrett included, is robbery. You by the car and it has no wheels so the dealer being such a nice guy sells you the wheels for a half to a third of the price of the car. But you know, after looking around and seeing some of the other high end models, man, give me a Garrett, it is apparently not so expensive as some others. I would actually go for the Harbor Frieght model if it were not so clumsy to use and awkward to carry and store. Fisher metal detectors are recognized as top of the line, right? well, they sell the cheaper type pinpointer, same as the bounty hunter models they give away in the package deals. They are not junk just not as sweet as the Garrett, oh, and they work, too. Yes, I am saving up for a Garrett -- almost have enough clads in my treasure jars to buy one.

tmdera, sounds like you have a system that works for you, but there is something i saw recently in using the Garrett and you might be able to leave the less sensitive pointer in the bag -- When using the Garrett and you get into the hot zone, turn the Garrett off and then right back on and it will then key down to the level of the cheaper pinpointer giving you the direct touch you want. Not sure, maybe someone that has one of these can say, but I think to get it back to the high sense mode you turn it on and off again and it returns to the higher level. When I discovered this feather on the Garrett I ordered on from KellyCo -- guess what, they are selling them for $129.45 and it includes a Razor Back digging tool -- that has to be the best deal anywhere. Oh, and they sent me a $10 coupon so i got the tool and the Garrett pinpointer for $119.45.

Yea dbax that's right on the garrett sensitivity I think I seen a demo on youtube before I ordered mine and that's how they turned the sensitivity up and down. Awesome little machine!

ron78 thanks for the confirmation -- I ordered the Kellyco deal, the Razor Edge digger plus the Garrett Pinpointer $119. I could not get it or order on line I would hit buy and it would cycle back to the order page ? I finally called Kellyco and was able to place the order over the phone -- it is in route. I sure could have used it today. I have one of the cheaper Fisher/bounty Hunter that you have to be right on the target for it to work. While this has saved me a lot of time and does work, but for some reason it does not seem to be as effective as before -- :surrender: Maybe it is because I am salivating over the New Garrett that is taking its time in getting here  I know, I know, I am in California and it is coming from Florida. Sorry to mudpuppy, but if you want to hunt everyday you have to move to California -- :hot:

No problem dbax:thumbup: pondguru on youtube does a great job comparing the garrett and the minelab pinpointers If anyone is thinking of the minelab as I was and I will say after this demo I'm glad I got the Garrett lol
