Need some help???

I use to have a 6000D but it died years ago, so I was looking for a new detector. I bought a Fisher F5 but I'm not sure I'm happy with it. What I need to know is what can I buy for around the price I payed for the F5, around $500 or a little more. Does anyone have an opinion on the F5 compared to a whites in the same class? I have a week or so to return this item so help would be nice....

I have been doing a lot of looking and thinking and I have found a few things. I am pretty new to detecting so I am sure others will chime in but here are my thoughts.

First ask yourself what kind of detecting are you interested. This is very important because it has a huge effect on what you will be looking at.

Second, Do you lean toward detecting by sound or Data. In other words are you ok with a detector that has no display and only sounds.

Third, Are you OK with Used

Fourth, look at the support for the detectors you are interested. This will tell you a lot about how they are being used and any issues you may need to be aware.

Now if used is OK the Whites MXT can be had for $500 from fee bay.

If a Coin Shooter then I think the F5 is not bad. If you want a little more and like fisher then the F70 can be had for near $500

Whites XLT is very similar to my older Eagle Spectrum and be had for Less then $500 all day.

But remember we are talking USED.

If you want new then look at Minelab X-terra 505 or if you can add a little more then the 705. I also like the Whites M6 it is a MXT with a few less options and a few more if that makes any sense.

Picking a detector is hard. I wish I could rent and use all the ones I am interested for a week before I buy but that is not going to happen.

good used XLT's, M-6's and MXT's aren't hard to find for around $500.00 and in my opinion they are all better than the F-5.
