Need some input from relic hunters

TomH

New member
Folks,

I am considering upgrading to a CTX for relic hunting and wanted to know what the relic hunters on the forum think. Has anyone used it in highly mineralized soil? I hunt in PA, MD and VA and run into some conditions that are tough on VLF machines. Any input? I am upgrading from a Safari that has found some fun stuff so I want to hear from users before taking the plunge.

Thanks in advance,
Tom Henrique

Tom,

I split about 50/50 between coinshooting and relics. IMHO, the CTX is the stone cold nuts on Civil War bullets, brass, and other relics. Just the other day, I pulled a pinfire cartridge from 8 inches deep in clay soil. Our dirt is not too bad here in MO, but I have found that the "Coin Ground" mode on the CTX can see through mineralized soil with ease. I post most of my relic only hunts on the Civil War forum, feel free to check it out to see some of my results. The deepest bullet I have dug was a .69 minie at 13 inches.

If you do a lot of relic hunting, then the big 17x13 coil will be your pal. I love it for my field relic sites. I posted a few Youtube videos recently of relic hunts, and I have some bullet digs on there if you care to see.

Go for the CTX. It will not disappoint.
