Need to clarify information on Garretts

It depends on if you need the waterproofing or not. I found the at pro nose heavy, the apex better balanced but for the money the 400 does a great job. That's what i keep around if someone wants to use, but being it's yellow no one wants to as they think it's a toy.

Even though I have and still own a AT Pro since 2009 or 2010 I have never been a fan of the ATP, the ATP in my opinion is one of the most overrated detectors I have ever used, and one of the most uncomfortable detectors I have ever swung (And I am not saying the ATP was a bad detector either) because it really was not a bad detector at all its just the ATP was just not my cup of tea I did find metal objects with my ATP LOL

I have never used or even held a Ace 400 or a Apex in my hands to have an opinion one way or the other on those two detectors even though I had considered purchasing a Apex up until the Vortex was announced to all of us so I decided to hold off on the Apex and purchase a Vortex VX9 (which we are all still waiting for the Vortex to become available), the Vortex could very well turn out to be like the ATP for me but I am hoping not, I was willing to take the risk that I will find the Vortex to be a good detector for me (That last statement by me at this time remains to be seen), the appealing part for me with the Vortex VX9 is the lack of available settings and features, the Vortex has enough features and settings in my opinion to make it appealing to me and that 3 tier Ferrous, non Ferrous, ferrous bars is kind of intriguing to me, will I find the Vortex to be a good to great detector well that's the $64000 question for me personally.

even though I have a few of those so called higher tech detectors, whiz bang (Cell Phones on a Stick) as I call them, currently for me I am having more fun than I have in years using my 5 Beep and Digs, my hope is I will have that same fun that I do with my 5 beep and digs with the new Vortex VX9

Thank you that was outstanding :clapping:

Put the newest update in the Xterra Pro, you keep trying to sell. Or Is there something you don't like about Xterra Pro.

The Xterra Pro with the equinox 6" coil or the coiltek 10x5" coil is a great coin shooter with excellent depth with either 1 of them coils.

He's Trying to tell you C.J.M. that your X-terra Pro Blows those Garrett's out of the Water.... Garrett has been a Let Down these days... JMHO

Sorry, I confused some gents. My kids gave me this new X-Terra Pro how ever my shoulders are in real bad shape in fact I am seeing my surgeon to set up a surgery date.It will be along time before I can ever be able to swing a detector. My hunting buddies are looking to buy a Garret products, but they are not members here.I am making a return on a complete right should replacement .My surgeon will have to go back in and make some adjustments. However, this just a start because the left shoulder is completely worn out its Bone on Bone and pain level is 8 every hour of the day:stars:
As much as I dislike this That's why I am selling this mint X-Terra PRO.I Did put it together and it works Perfect.I was going to pass on to my gran kit ,but he change his mind.So Gents its up for sale for $200.00 shipped . It has a full warranty. Its for sale on this forum.

Here is a thought why don't you let your hunting buddy that is looking for opinions on detectors try your Xterra Pro out and see how he likes it and then if he likes the Xterra pro sell it to him or her, this is just a thought and (you may have already done as I suggested)

I will also tell you I own a Xterra 705 and the 705 is my favorite detector of all I have ever used and it still remains that way even today, had the Xterra pro had the same frequencies, modes especially the Gold Mode with a true threshold available as the 705 I would have been all over purchasing a Xterra Pro, but unfortunately it did not so it made the Xterra Pro a no go for me personally

Need feed back Clarified on this detectors : which is the best detector Garrett Ace 400 vs. Apex vs. AT Pro. for all around hunting ?
My hunting buddies are rather confused and want a Garrett since they are in the close area.So they need the information as to which one to buy. Some live in the Houston area now. SO It is easy for them to get them fixed in short time? :garrett:

Man that is a tough call, for me if I had a friend wanting a Garrett Detector I would have to tell them to hold off for a bit longer and see where this New Vortex is at, it should not be much longer for the Vortex to become available for sale, I do know from what I have been told its not going to be like the AT Pro or the Apex, its supposed to be way better from what I have been told, whether that's the case we will not know until we have one in our hands, I personally am looking forward to seeing what the Vortex will be and will do, as I said earlier the Vortex could very well turn out to be just like the ATP turned out for me and end up just setting in my detector room next to the ATP and several other detectors that ended up being not to my Liking.

As I stated suggest to your friend to hold off for a bit longer and see where this new Vortex ends up.

The correct answer is: it depends. It depends on what your friends' hunting goals and habits are/will be. I own an Apex and like it very much. It's fairly lightweight and very capable. My only real beef with it is that it's not fully waterproof which is a problem for me on those occasions when I beach hunt, but if your friends don't beach hunt, then that might not be a problem. I personally don't have any experience with the Ace 400 or the ATPro, but from what I've read, they're both capable machines, with the former being better for beginners (and cheaper too). Like OldKoot said, if your friends can wait a month, they'd probably be best off getting the Vortex. If money is an issue, or if they're just tire-kicking the hobby to see if they'd like it, the VX5 might be a good option. If they find that they enjoy the hobby, they might want to upgrade to the VX7 or VX9 at a later date.

For you, as much as I hate to say it, you might want to consider an XP Deus II. It is incredibly lightweight and a joy to swing. I recently got one, but have been having a devil of a time learning it. It's not for the faint of heart, but if the weight is an issue, this might be the best choice for you going down the road.

Like OldKoot, I've ordered the VX9, and have high hopes for it. If it performs well, I'll probably sell the D2. Yes, the D2 is a more sophisticated machine, but the machine can only be as good as the user, and I'm not (yet) jelling with it.

I hope this helps, and good luck with the surgery!
