It's been one heck of a week and I needed a break. I wanted to get out for a bit today and detect. It's so therapeutic and relaxing to me. Larry was ready to go before I even said anything. We hunted a couple private yards and I came home with a big smile on my face. I found 5 Wheat cents, 1960-D Quarter (a memorial cent in the same hole), 1900 Indian Cent, and the best was a 1944 Walking Liberty half dollar. Yes Rob, it's a good year. :clapping: It turned out to be a super day..........Until the water heater went out. :rage: Thanks for looking and I love this hobby!!!!! HH, Nancy

Nancy whooped some azz again today.........:cheekkiss: I just noticed that the licence plate ID tags are from 1937....:thumbup:
 
Great finds Nancy!! I have not hunted any yards yet, guess I can't get up the nerve to ask. Is there a technique or thing that you say to the homeowner that helps with getting permission? I know there is goodies out there in private yards and I would like to start hunting them, just need to buck up and get permission. Any advice on breaking the ice? Thanks and keep up the great finds, love seeing them!

When I see an older home and the homeowner outside and it looks good, the first thing I do is bat my eyelashes at my husband and ask him to go talk to them. :rofl: It works! He takes a business card (with our picture, name, ph. # and all the info of our clubs, etc.) in hand and introduces himself to the homeowner. Tells them if there's anything identifiable we will return it to the owner and if we find anything that they've lost, we will return it to them. Don't go up to someones house looking like a bum! I've seen many detectorists that should have changed clothes a week earlier. Know what I mean?!!!! I have asked many homeowners also and even called them on the phone. I know this person that knows that person that went to school with...and so on and so on. Be respectful because it is THEIR land! Assure them that you will NOT leave any holes and will make sure you leave the ground as is. Cover your tracks!!!! Hope that helps. HH to all, Nancy
 
soil you seem to hunt in a lot because most Indian Heads around here don't come out looking so nice. :( The IH is plenty, but two bigger silvers!!! A great outing.

Now that's the way to do it.....What a great hobby where you can have a bad week and go out and not only clear your mind but find some treasures as well.....Nice Job :thumbup:
