Will post If anything of interest turns up.

Those pinched nerves are something...Sometimes a Chiropractor can help, and sometimes not...sometimes they can hurt you pretty bad and make it worse than it was...
Hope whatever you do you get some relief and get back in field!

My chiropractor works miracles on my back. I recently zinged my lower back where I was afraid to move in certain positions. The night after the chiro visit I couldn't sleep with the soreness from the adjustment. The following day it was like nothing happened, no pain whatsoever....went to work, no problem.

He had said if you can't hold a plank position for one minute, your core muscles aren't up to where they should be. He said 5 minutes in the plank position is what I should shoot for. He also gave me another exercise to do where you lay on your back, knees bent and push the pelvis up keeping the back flat on the floor, then do the opposite by pushing the but to the floor while arching the back, 50 reps a day....seems to be working. If your core muscles are week, there is a chance you will be prone to injuries. Never new my core muscles were sub-par, been in the trades all my life...could be age I suppose. Oh yea, ice the injury to reduce swelling.

Not my first rodeo. Nothing has worked so far. Gonna get the soft needle treatment next. Life goes on so you have to manage your pain without drugs. Detecting has been the best therapy so far. :wiggle:

Hey Geo, my Chiro has this one electric thingy he uses on me when my back locks up...it seems to shock the muscles into letting go so he can do the 'pop n crack' alignment method...of course he always wants me to come back in, but I DONT! Thats when he hurts a guy, both physically and economically...those repeat treatments..:lmfao:

I will say this, I agree with you 110% about 'detecting therapy'.....if it wasnt for detecting, I'm sure I would be dead by now, no joke...its about the best whole body exercise a guy can get..we addicts have some serious core/cardio/mental strength compared to most guys our age if you think about it as you walk through any Walmart, and look at guys half our age, its readily apparent....I bet we are in way better shape than 95% of the guys our age out there...hell, we could be in the top 2% or higher... (Which is actually a pretty sad statement)

Horkin, I hear you there Brother! I do have a huge problem with gout! My own fault of course, too much beer and getting dehydrated brings it on, And as you can tell from some of my posts, I am quite an expert in that regard as well! :buds: Luckily, Elton and the rest of the moderators recognize this affliction of mine is Hereditary, and theres nothing I can do about it, so I sort of get a 'pass' on some of my posts/replys within reason...

That gout flare-up hitting a guys big toe joint will flat shut a guy down! A guy cant detect or do anything for a couple weeks! Foot all swolled up like a microwaved hotdog!...So I try not to drink too much within peak detecting season! I'd rather hunt than drink! So again, detecting is about the healthiest Sport I have found for old dudes that worked hard all our lives, busted up to be danged, as a buddy of mine once said: "If I'd a known I was going to live this long, I'd a taken better care of myself"...

I agree with the exercise thing.
My knees were getting stiff and sore.
All the digging activity up and down has made them much better. Just have to do more in winter to stay active.
