TWO WINNERS. Ok here is what we are going to do. First off this contest will run from now till Sunday evening at 9pm Eastern.

The winners will be decided in two groups. Those who went diggin during the time of the contest, and those who could not get out.
If you do go, make a post under this post and let us know what you found. If you could not get out you still have to post under here but tell us a memorable short story about a time you did go out. Prizes will be something cool! Winners will be drawn randomly or some other way!

To play you must have posted here on this forum in 2010 to play.

Have fun and God bless.

Hi Mike, me son, and thanks for the contest....My most memorable story (though I have many more) was when our club went to a Civil War site in Pilot Knob, MO, and hunted on Shepherd's Mountain! At the club meeting before we went to the hunt, it was said that Civil War relics could be found like lead Mini-balls, iron and etc. But to my friend Liz, I made the staatement or remark that I would rather find silver and when I went upon the mountain, I only saw one member hunting where I was and said, hello, to him.....though other members were scattered in other places and hunting for those hidden Civil War relics and finding grape shot, cannon balls, mini-balls and etc., I went in one direction towards some large flat rocks and spent about 15 mins chasing after a piece of wire and after realizing what it was...I went closer to the rocks and lo and behold I found an 1863 Seated Liberty Quarter in good condition and showed Jack whom I had talked to previously! He was astounded and wanted to know where I found it and so I showed him the exact spot!

I hunted other places but since I was dressed in long sleevespants and etc., ----to keep from getting poison ivy--which I am very allergic to--- I sure became hot, sweaty and dirty and finally we all came off of the mountain! I cleaned up and combed my hair, a mess after so much sweating (well women perspire) and one of the men said are you the same person who came off the mountain! and looked at my quarter...the same as everyone else! I think some were jealous, but they were also happy with their finds of lead, iron and etc. I was a Happy Camper and God blessed me with the desire of my heart to find silver! God is sure good to His Children and will answer the desires of our hearts, as long as it doesn't go against His will and plan for each of us1

I don't have the coin handy or I would post a pic of it! I put it in a silver bezel on a silver chain! It is one of my best finds! May God Bless and looking forward to some more neat stories from ya all!

Thanks Mike, again, for the opportuniy to enter your nice contest!

I think your list is growing of items you need to scan so we can see. :)

Well, Mike, you sure are wanting Ma to go up and down stairs, as I have my goodies packed away for moving, when Cliff was alive and here to help me, and right now I am busy with the selling of my Cuba home, (the unspoken prayer request that I asked for, and doing my taxes.....I want to itemize deductions, so I can save on the taxes I will need to pay on my IRA monies drawn out in 2009! The deductions will save me more than the standard deduction, but I have to go through so much stuff to find what I need for each item to be deducted, so be patient and I will....just remember Ma is older than most on here and VERY SLOW and FORGETFUL in getting anything done! But one of these days or nights, I will scan several of my past finds in the 1980's and 1990's and post pics! It will take time though, for it keeps me busy just to keep my head above water on my financial situations! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

...quite a few years ago,I took my detector to a co-workers' friends house to look for a ring that was supposedly lost-The woman had 3 small children that were watching me CLOSELY-I got a reading near a tree, and was trying to get thru the roots-I was having a hard time gettin thru the roots, and I said-mostly to myself-"Come on;ya snake;get outta there"......One of the kids looked at me and said-with BIG EYES-"THAT THING FINDS SNAKES TOO????"............I NEVER DID find that ring,either..........

no hurry, I just think they sound very neat. Don't go to any fuss to do it.

I went to the same site as I did last week To look for civil war relics. Found several small caliber bullets , some shot. A nice eagle button still all together. And a indian arrow head. The ball that looks like a musket ball is actually a marble I seen it on top of the ground.

Love the arrow head! Congrats!

Okay, Mike, I will try to find some of the goodies when I get my taxes done! I am such a procrastinator when it comes to doing anything, because I am not organized and have trouble finding things, as me mind and eyes aren't what they used to be long many years ago! ;) May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Nice finds, Travis! I like the arrow head or Spear Point and congrats on doing a very good hunt! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

Got out and hit a few schools today - dug 52 coins, some silver jewelry , some junk jewelry and a strange electronic device.

The necklace and pendant are stamped sterling, necklace is what's called "liquid silver", fine tubes of silver making up the necklace.

The angel coin is unusual - same thing on both sides, a little bigger than a quarter. Any ideas ?

Finally, I found this electronic thingy - has a little light that points on the end. Any ideas on it ? steve in so az

Thanks Mike, for the contest !!

Nice finds, Steve! Congrats on the silver necklace, as it is very pretty....another gift for Nancy? ;) I have an idea the coin is a Commemorative for people to carry reminding them that angels are here and watching over them! Probably Catholic, but could be for others, too, who believe in angels! What metal is it made of? It is very nice and shiny! May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

We found $9.33 today while hunting a housing complex and a park. Also found 12 wheaties, a 1944-S Merc, a 1939-D Merc, a 1941 nickel, a 25 cent play money piece, and a "Tilt" Family Amusement token.
