New Deus on the way

Flintstone

Well-known member
I have a new Deus on the way,and was woundering if the 3.1 upgrade has been already been put in it? Dose any one know if new Deus has the upgrade, has anyone got a new one lately? I got it with the over the ears phones. I tried the small one a friend had and with my hearing aids they didn,t work good. I know I will need a lot of help, anyone that don,t care if I bug you let me know. I am not very smart as I didn,t do good in school. Back in the 50s now one though about hearing and doing good in school. Thanks for any help. Flintstone P.S. Thank God for spell check

I believe when you turn it on it will tell you the upgrade number but I could be wrong.
I think you will see a large 'XP' and see "Deus 3.2" at the bottom

Your going to like it with the full headphones. Spend the money and get Andys book it's a must have. I don't mind if you PM me with questions I'm glad to try to help you.
I think you're post was spelling error free so you did fine in school and or learned to use the computer and spell check. Good luck with it.

The Deus is a fantastic machine !

Good Luck ! :detecting:

Flintstone---just post away with your questions/concerns. There are many here who will I think be glad to assist. Besides some of us may learn something from one of your concerns/questions.

The Deus is not as difficult as some make it. Some of the terminolgy associated with it and its settings makes it sound complicated.

I'm sure you will be up and running in no time.

XP Deus IMO is really the only 21st century detector currently available in the USA.

Cheers.

I'm with you squirrel 1 . It's not as hard as some make it out to be.
When I started with it I ran basic 1 and did not use the remote and
used the WS 4's and hunted by tones only. Put about 10 hours on
it and was amazed how fast the good finds came. First high
end machine that I gelled with right away for just starting out with.
I used an XS for 8 years but that took time to learn as when I first got
it I was like lost as this was my 1rst real machine in the hobby. I used
a toy detector which I won't name but that lasted a week but in that
week I was like why didn't I start 20 years earlier. Bottom line is
the Deus is fairly easy to use. GB is the key along with some
simple settings. Sorry to ramble on but the Deus is AWESOME!!!
Andy's BOOT Camp helped tremendously though!!!

I went to the shop to pick up my new Deus, and the UPS guy did not stop. After my friend closed shop he call and the detector was at the UPS store. He just called me and he went there and picked it up. I will get it from him tomarrow. Anouther day with out it, that is ok it rained to much to get out anyway. I plan to go to Boot Camp this spring. I have Andys book on order. Hope I get it soon, have down loaded the manual and went through it 4 times already. Can,t wait. flintstone

Is there anybody in the Sherman Texas area or surrounding area! I am very frustrated with the Xp! I am ready to sell it and go with my first choice the E Trac
Is there a Boot camp close to my area!?

I think you'll find it is ,if your not sure just go to the XP site and update ,the reason it was controversial was the amount of iron being dug ,I've had my Deus for three years so have used both ,and the remedy was to but your silencer down to -1 which then made the iron audio hearable ,,if that makes sense, plenty of info on YouTube the version 3.1 gave you the gold or prospecting mode and more partitions for your own programs ....

Boot camp ,, come on ,stick with it you'll find it very rewarding ,it's not any deeper than anything else ,but a lot quicker and with switchable frequencies ,,I don't know where or what sort of ground you hunt on , but the Deus is a bit of a learning curve,,as you know it come with basic presets,,but in essence you can go to one particular setting and change it to anything in the manual ,
I can give you some settings that work for me ,such full tones where I run the machine with one degree of discrim,11 kHz GB on tracking if you can do it by pumping mores the better ,important go to reactivity then press expert then change silencer to -1 , try and log on to the XP forum site there's an English bloke Garry just watch him and learn,,I wish you luck and good hunting .regards Peter..

Hang in there! Not sure what your specific problems are with the machine. It is a pure joy to use and keeps up with almost any detector in any situation. I can't say enough about boot camp as a help. One very simple thing to do that helped me a bunch is to place coins on the ground and pass the coil over them. Keep moving the coil higher until you get that faint, sweet, warble kind of signal. This is what you want to hear in the field. If it is raspy or irritated sounding it is probably junk. It does hear big iron. Try notching out 98-99. The tone on big iron will be clipped and you will know it is iron before you dig it. If you are frustrated, go back to the old if the signal sounds great all four directions, dig it rule. The tone for a coin is a pure, clean high tone in most cases. Even in iron you can usually slow down the coil and tease the signal to a much cleaner one. Don't give up too quickly. You have one of the best machines I have ever used and with the new update, it will soon be even better. The joy of swinging less than 2.5 lbs is a tremendous motivator to make you want to keep a Deus.

Good luck, Don

OK, Got the Deus and having trouble pinpointing. When put in pin point, whrer is the sweet spot on the detector coil ? I have tried the middle and the bolt spot and still have trouble finding the target, sometimes it is off to the right and some time it is above the middle. Can anyone help?
