New member
Hi All:
I got a new etrac last week.It didn't work out of the box.Would not turn on..then after several attempts it came on and would not turn off..No worry though..My Dealer took care of the problem 110%..Got the new one today......Rushed home from work and put it together,,Waaa laa it turned on perfectly.
Went to a neighbor hood park..(One I have never hunted).............well here are the results 1 1/.2 Hours of digging..........sore arm and shoulder.......but it did good real good..

Elton that is a nice start . But how could have a park you never hunted , i thought you got them all :twodetecting: HH Mike

the park I went to today..Truth is I didn't even know it was there..back off main road and ready for the good part...It has a baseball field too.. Looks old..
And in the middle of the block going to the park is an Island about a city block long and 200 to 300 feet wide..has old Slate sidewalks all around it...
Man how did I miss this place LOL..... Shoot this may be VIRGIN ground...... Guess where I'm going Back to later HAHAHAHAA

Forgot to mention....... Preset out of the box..Just turned it on and started hunting..No Adjustments made.. Standard coil (Pro)

Sweet! Nice first run! And looks like a very very nice park. Have fun "testing" your new E-Trac at it! :detecting:

Congratulations! The Etrac sure seems to love those old dimes! You know, if you keep this up, you're going to have to change that avatar!

Welcome El..............Sore?....Just shorten that stem so that you're detecting off your toes....and dancing to a silver melody.....Enjoy....TheMarshall

This etrac sure found those old dimes a token and a wheat cent though.. Also some decorated piece of metal ????
I swear I think this is an unhunted park..It's way off the beaten path...

Besides I have had that Avatar forever LOL::rofl:

The Nickle hit solid on 12-13.......

Kinda rough on the arms and shoulder but a lot better than the XS and EXpII..way better even...

works very well and goes deep with the presets right out of the box, much better than the Explorers. You did good, nice finds.

sorry double post

I didn't want to wrap it around a tree like I did the SE LOL In fact it was rather enjoyable using it... Runs pretty quiet till you hit a target

I had the rods extended out a little far, and felt the arm and shoulder pressure after about an hour..I shortened it tonight and it's much better... But remember I am used to the F75 and T2 the most comfortable detectors on the market and still be high end detectors.

Elton,

Great first hunt. My Etrac is arriving tomorrow. I have been using the F75 for two years and was wondering what your initial thoughts were? A lot of Andy Sabisch's techniques I mastered on the F75 and should be able to translate to the Etrac.

Have fun in your new park.
Fred

That's a pretty good first hunt. It doesn't sound like you're going to have any trouble learning that new detector. One thing I do to take the strain off my arm and shoulder is to lay the coil on the ground and slide it. That only works when you detect in a yard or a park where the grass is mowed.

Thanks for the ground scrubbing idea..I will give it a shot.

It's quiet compared to the F75 and T2 also. You do not hear all the targets your going over in the preset mode.
It hits the good targets with no problems..... a little hard on the arm and shoulder areas for sure....but it does seem to work well, and I notice a big difference in swing speed.. With my F75, and T2 I can swing fast and not miss targets..Not so with the Etrac..Move it to fast and you start getting jumbled responses and a lot of nulling sounds...For good steady slow paced detecting though it seems like it will find some stuff other detectors have missed.I haven't tweaked anything on it..just turned on and detected and it did fine...

Saw your pic in Western and Eastern Mag.............Jim..it's very different from our F75's and T2's...but I can see where it will find things other detectors miss.Sound may be the key..The id changes. It seems on depth some coins read say 12-43 at 4 inches and they read 11-43 at 7"....not sure why that is.
The sounds stay the same though...I like the different sounds of Multi setting that's in preset mode.At first it sounded like the tone was the same on several targets, but then when you listen closely their just a bit different..I think a good set of headphones will be required to hear the difference on some of the targets. So I will be checking that out today..Anyone have any ideas let me know which phones work best. I will say this..compared to the SE and XS units I have tried and failed with..this Etrac has it over on them in feel and response..I don't know about actual depth yet..nothing I found was over 7" deep..and it hit that depth with no problem..
