Just got it last week. I have used tesoros with good results the last few years and became a believer in minelab this past summer when a friend sold me his excal because he had an etrac which he used on the beach and then I had friends tell me of their finds and how deep they were going ect ect. The price was way more then I had ever paid but I sold one of my projects and before my wife knew ,I ordered a new etrac.
My first hunt was an old home that I hunted several times with my other two machines and did not find much. You could tell the place was hunted out and you can see some old dig holes . With the etrac and me not having a clue how to use it(I use preset coin mode for now with deep on) I walked away with an 1884IH ,1925 wheaty and a nice large skeleton key. The etrac did much better then with my other machines ! Lots of trash there but after I learn this machine I think it will be amazing.
I went out this morning to an old high school and dug a 1966 dime at 9 inches. I was impressed .Extremely trashy school. I got rained out but I know that place has to be loaded with deep silver.
Does any one have good tried and true setting they use for deep coins in trashy areas? Also what are the #s I am looking for. I see coins seem to be around 12.40.

Thanks much :beers:

Welcome aboard.

With the E-Trac most of the 30's and 40's will be your coin numbers on the conductive side, but the Ferrous numbers can most certainly be off. In a perfect world the 12 is correct. But the deeper and more co-located with trash the more they are off. I've dug coins on rare occasions with Fe's in the 20's. Just have to dug a few at each site to see what the machine's seeing.

Looking forward to your posts.
