Hi,
I'm a metal detectorist from England, and a long term member of Detectorist.co.uk. I have recently developed a metal detectorists Android gps tracks and finds recording app. This is the app I couldn't find.. So I made it myself! I''ve called it Tect O Trak. I thought you might like to try it. This application allows the user to track their movements within a pre defined area. You can save and resume searches, add / revisit findspots and make detailed records. This is made by a detectorist for detectorists. There are no ads or any other nonsense. Please give it a try.

Cheers and good luck,

What about the iPhone?

Thanks for your interest.

I hope to make an Iphone version one day.. This is not a commercial venture. I developed Tectotrak for myself, and I have an Android phone. Sorry. However, there is hope! If people like it and buy the full app, any money generated will be going towards developing the Iphone version. The fund is now standing at 14%. So it will happen eventually. Be sure to check back from time to time.

Good luck.

I anxiously await the Iphone version as well. Sounds like you are doing great things Worm. Thanks for sharing.

Fellow detectors, purchase the Android app!

@Songdog.

Hi,
Thanks for trying Tect O Trak

It must have been a temporary glitch with Google market. :( Sorry about that. Nothing to do with app I assure you.
Very annoying to hear about it though. Please try again. If there is still a problem let me know, and I will raise the issue with Google.

Happy hunting,

Wormslayer

There has been an update to Tect O Trak recently.

In the demo/light version. There is now full facebook integration, with the option to increase your number of saved areas by reccomending and rating the app. Sadly, it is also now ad supported :( This is because most people just want it for free, which is fine, but does not help in developing the app further. As it stands, there are over 400 happy users, but not one single person as rated it or left a comment! , I am as guilty of this as the next man of this. I've never commented or rated an app either! I knew at the outset that the numbers didn't stack up. This is a very specialised app. However, I was hoping for a bit more support within the user community. This hasn't materialised, so hence the ads. Sorry.

In the pro version (which is and always will be ad free) I have added a database import and export function. So your files will always be safe. (Assuming you do regular backups that is..;)) And also full facebook integration. This is optional. if you don't use facebook dont click the icon. Simples.. :)

There are still many things I can add to the app, such as historical map overlays, and I have an ace up my sleeve that will add a whole new dimension (and possibly a bit of fun if you're artistically inclined) to your searches. So watch this space!

Be lucky..

Wormslayer.

A postcard from my travels showing Tect O Trak in action. It has really proved to be an excellent tool for maximising coverage.

Hi,

For users of Tect O Trak, please check the google playstore for an update.

After using the app for a few years now, I've noticed that with the accumulation of so many different coloured previously recorded tracks, it had started to look a bit 'psychedelic,' especially in search areas that I'm close to completing, Someone once joked it looked like candy crush saga! OUCH!

Here is my solution..
There is now an option to temporarily display all old tracks in a single colour of your choice, while at the same time allowing a high contrasting custom colour selection for the new track. I think you'll agree that it's an improvement and and will have its uses. It definitely makes the 'missed bits' easier to see.
HH & Good luck.

Tect O Trak update.

I have just reworked the 'Finds' list. There are now two parts to entering details when recording a find. You now have the option to edit, or add further info. ( ie - after research..) Only the first part which is the the short title, will be visible in the finds list. To view the full title and description, you will need to view the full sized image. Press the ' i ' button top left (full image) to toggle info on/off. To edit, long press the individual record in the finds list.
Also,

The find list image gallery now has auto rotate

The find list thumbnail is slightly bigger.

Replaced the icon used to access the find geo location cluster gallery (Finds list, top right)
