New Here M6

I just purchased a like new M6 with stock coil, but it hasn't arrived yet .I will be doing coin and jewelry hunting in parks and the usual places.I've been using a fisher 1270, tesoro conq umax and BH 3300. I think the M6 should outperform a couple of these and hopefully keep up with the 1270 in depth. Ive been using the 5" coil on the 1270 for trashy areas. I had an old {1988ish]eagleII last year for a couple of months then gave it to my brother. I didn't see an advantage in using it at the time. Now the question I came here to ask is ..If I would buy only one small coil for excellent depth what should it be? I was going to get a sov.GT ,then just made an impulse decision to get the M6. I've read some of the post here and it seems that the 5.3 eclipse is a prominent coil with the experienced users. Is that the one I need? Also I don't plan on doing much beach hunting so that shouldn't figure in the coil recommendation. I've been detecting for 6 1/2 years. My oldest coins are an 1875 and an 1876 seated dimes. These forums are great for gathering helpful info. Thanks to all and I'll be looking forward to some fantastic finds with the M6. Hi Richard..congrats on the new M6. I have 5 coils for my MXT including the 5.3 and that's the one I pretty much use exclusively. I read alot of good comments on the 6 X 10 but can't comment on that one since I don't have it. I think it would be a real coin toss between the two. The 5.3 is really accurate in both VDI readings and depth. I would wait for some comments on the 6 X 10 or go back in the forum... there are plenty of Q&A's about it. I guess the easiest way is to buy both......good luck choosing and happy hunting.

After looking at a few more post I guess the best small coil for me to try is the 5.3 eclipse.Although I saw something about a 5.3 Black Max. Will that work on the M6. or is it for another model? I've got a few choice spots to try out the M6 ,can't wait to see what it will find in some of my hard hit areas....Thanks again

The Black max is for the XLT's and such. You want to get the Eclipse 5.3 which will fit the M6, MXT and DFX. I have the M6 but have only searched with the stock coil even though I have the 6X10 which I read is very good on the MXT and M6 only so-so on the DFX. I am looking for a 5.3 also as ppl say it seperates the good from bad and identifies targets VDI really well. I have a MXT on the way and want to compare to two. The M6 is a real coin getter. Couldn't be any simpler to use really.

The simplicity of the knobs plus the multi tones , and the rep of being a top performer is what made up my mind to get the M6.I didn't do a lot of research before purchasing. but it was a deal I couldn't pass up.Its a Whites, good solid equipment,And I'll have it figured out in short order.
It is reassuring to know that by putting the 5.3 eclipse on. the vdi and depth readings don't change much,so you still get the functionality that you pay for.I like this machine already and I haven't even seen it yet.I may be back to ask a few questions after I start to use it, but I think I'll do just fine with it.
I'll start looking for a coil now. ..HH Thanks LaDigger Richard S.La
