I found this forum about a month ago, and decided to sign up today, it looks like a great place to learn and share information. I haven't used a medal detector in about 25 years. Coin and Relic detectors is my choice and I'm looking at the Minelab e-trac. Before spending $1500 on a Minelab etrac would anyone know if Minelab is planning an upgrade to something like Minelab etrac 2.

No one know when the next detector will come out, at least no one who knows will tell anyone. The E-Trac has been out for about 2 years and it is about time for a new machine. The rush will be on to get it. All of the Explorers do a good job, the E-Trac shows more information on the screen and has more variable settings than the older models. I have a very good friend who uses the E2 and I challenge anyone with a newer machine to keep up with him. He knows the E2 like the back of his hand and comes to the monthly meeting with more silver and artifacts than most detectorists find in a year. The secret is learn your machine.

Welcome aboard, you will love it here.

Can't tell you what to do and I have no clue if there's another "Upgraded E-Trac" about to be unveiled. If you live anywhere in the northern states and the ground freezes, you might hold off and see if there will be one out by next spring or be able to get a new or used one between now and then.

Thanks for signing up and looking forward to your posts.

NebTrac.. Good advice. I live in the northern michigan and snow will soon be here, so Ill have lots of time to research. I was recently told that a local couple found a 90# piece of float copper metal detecting and sold it for big bucks. The story got me going.

Welcome to the forum Toby.

From what I have been hearing, nothing new coming out anytime soon. They seem to have the future technology already developed, but don't feel the need to bring it out yet as what they have is already way ahead of everyone else.

The new release will be when the time is right. Besides, I believe they are putting as much manufacturing time into the high end gold machines due to the increase in demand.
