NEW MINELAB ETRAC IN 2012

earthmansurfer said:
I hope the New E-Trac has a bigger screen than that and NO wireless search coil. And Please, an option for headphones and not those Deus like "lites".

I wouldn't wait if I was on the fence about an E-Trac - if the release date is end of this year... Dec 21 2012! That would be nice ;-)

EMS

LOL, the world is supposed to end right about that time! Maybe to new E-Tracs are utilizing quantum singularity power sources for thier warp drives and several hunters end up getting to close together!

Deus detector, only 300 dollars more than Etrac no extra coils to buy, more like 705 can switch to several freq.without switching coils.Depth as deep as Etrac, will find small items excels at finding gold.totally wireless 1/3 weight, stores easy many people in England switching from Etrac to Deus.Built new factory could not keep up with demand.Just set up US distributor.I would keep an open mind.Check it out.

Actually the only way to switch frequencies on the 705 is by CHANGING coils.

It's funny when I read so many comments and opinions from people who don't own a particular machine but have seen all the videos or read the manuals.
There is no way to know anything about a unit unless you use it. And using it is for at least 50 hours. Not swinging your buddies for 30 minutes.

Well said! :detecting: HH Randy

I think its time for a new E.Trac and have just sold my ET so i can have some of the money for the next . As for when it comes out i am not worried as my Terra's and my Deus will keep me ticking over.

The things i would like to see are .
1 - full size cordless headphones.
2 - slightly larger screen that does not fade in the sunlight
3 - straight telescopic stem
4 - cordless coil if possible but not neccesary and stay with 11inch or so
5 - same tones and more numbers FE and CON
6 - better hand grip which can be changed easy, maybe a X.Terra style box that can be removed ..
7 - battery life over 20 hours instead of around 10 to 12 on 8 AA
8 - much faster recovery speed
9 - ability to change from multi freq to a freq of choice
10- and most of all as good or better on the beach as the old ET

Bell Two I just forgot to put comma mark behind 705 I knew you had to change coils on Xterra"s but why in the world anyone would want to buy 705 with extra coils when you could buy Safari for same price.I of course have owned 2 Etrac sold them and kept Safari cause I could not see any big improvements between the two in my black Illinois soil maybe some where else the extras could be of use.. So I sold them for a profit.I have a chance at another Pawn Shop for Etrac less than 1 year old looks real clean in 2 weeks if owner does not pick it up I have offered pawn shop 600 bucks cash, same way I got my other 2 Etracs.Whites V3i made real nice profit on it, good machine.By the time 80 percent of Minelab FBS Etrac users out there buy just one extra coil you are almost cost of Deus so I really do not see why everyone is saying how much more expensive it is than saying $1600 for Fisher F5 or Whites V3i.I like bringing this question up. How many Freq. you think you are hunting with Safari or Etrac or any Minelab detector when you are sweeping/hunting.The reason I bring this up is I hear people always, like putting down single freq.detectors when they have found 95% more coins than any FBS Detector out there for last 40 years. Are you really sure when you are running your Etrac that you are not running only one Freg ?.2 maybe?3 possibly?.Look, I do not know anything about XP Deus. But I did not know anything about Minelab four years ago either but people were trading in there favorite detectors in for a non USA FBS detector I have no regrets, it works in trash better than anything out there, just wish they were made in USA.Now people are trading in there Etracs for XP Deus at $1800 a pop like a made rush over in England and hunting same area they hunted with thier ETracs, and finding.Ever here this before your old hunting area will be your new hunting area works for more than just one brand name.I have over 5 grand in my hobby fund, but I have decided not spend over a thousand for any detector.Hope to see XP Deus at my local pawn shop soon.I have found 11 silver 3 cent pieces in 35 years.7 of them came from one small park in small town in Illinois. The rest were found at old Masonic Lodges. They came in real good when I found them.Maybe no real use for XP Deus here in America.I hope Minelab comes out with more than pinpointer this year.

I own both the Deus and the E-Trac.

They both have their benefits in certain situations.

Very simply the Deus wins on weight and the E-Trac wins on target ID.
For the US detectorist the E-Trac is a silver magnet and delivers great ID at depth.
For the UK detectorist the Deus can be programmed to focus on gold quarter staters or low conductor silver like hammereds which come in (on the E-Trac) at 12-06 and 12-12 to 12-20 respectively. It also has the fastest reactivity of any machine on the market today, again great for iron infested Roman UK sites where you are picking targets out from machine gun signals. So you use one or the other based on what the detecting environment is.

It's funny when I read so many comments and opinions from people who don't own a particular machine but have seen all the videos or read the manuals.
There is no way to know anything about a unit unless you use it. And using it is for at least 50 hours. Not swinging your buddies for 30 minutes.

My two cents.

Glad see your 2 cent report have you found much using it in our US trash sites. You on Utube?

Hi there - actually I do not typically hunt in US trash sites...

I primarily hunt in pristine plowed farm fields dating to the 1600's or sometimes in the woods in areas that had seen activity back to 1700's.
So far have found a half reale on each of my last 2 outings (1783 and no date). Both thin and around 5-7" deep.
Would the E-Trac have found them? Most likely.

When I did use the Deus in a trash infested old park I was not too happy with it and promptly switched to the E-Trac...

I have been hunting with the Deus in parks and beaches and it has been working just fine in such places. Xp Deus does have the discrimination, notch function and you can alter the 4 tones to a different id numbers, so why would it not work in a park and dont use the 18khz frequency in trash infested parks, it is too sensitive.:smoke:

the banner said "The Future Of Discovery" that could mean anything like we like the discovery channel who knows lot of build up to what better be good that's all i can say, its a bit dramatic as well has sort of put me off from the start !!
