then there will be a whole lot of VLF's up for sale, a devise like that would be a ring hunters dream come true, including me. I don't care if it eats batteries and hipmount them or can't tell bottle caps from coins, hope they go ahead and release it!

a new metal detector using ground penetrating radar. I posted it late at night, I was tired. The next day the post was all gone, the whole thing. I thought I was going crazy. I was sure I had posted it. Now I know why.............your post answers a few questions.

You guys!!!! next time you scratch your head with your coil turn the power to the coil down. I think we are getting some fried brains out there.

The concept and idea has been around for a while and if you want there is more info at this link.

I find coins almost every outing in that range (beaches, parks, old schools, doesn't matter). I, too, found it hard to believe before buying an Explorer (I was using a Garret 2500), but I am now a convert. Granted, when the signals get down to 11"-12" or further (yes, I have found a couple of coins around the 13"-14" range) they are kinda weak, but repeatable. The pinpoint tone is just a slight buzz at that point, but once you know what to listen for, it's a beautiful thing. Deeper = Older. WooHoo!
ACE, hopefully you can find one that suits your needs and tastes. As for the rest of us, we'll happily keep digging deep stuff with our Explorers.
Cheers from Australia,
Toby

I have bad hearing then i guess . I guess i am not getting past 8 inches because i have bad hearing. I think it is possible with excellent hearing and excellent head phones to get the 12 inch deep coins. I am not saying it is totally impossible just hard digging all those super weak signals that are usually it seems either small items of trash close to the surface or 9 -12 inch deep coins. I hate digging 12 inch deep holes so i guess i am lazy. A lot of the 12 inch deep holes i have dug have turned up big iron or drink cans!. 8 inches is my cut off point.

JOHN (TX) hit the nail on the proverbial head!!!! ... i dont care how deep it goes....i am not paying 1200.00 for any MD unless it makes the coins jump out of the ground and they are gold ONLY.
