New SEF 10 x 12 Coil popped out BIG SILVER on her 4 hour maiden voyage:bouncy:

After an hour with absolutely NOTHING in my pouch...I started to get frustrated:confused:...but then realized I have pounded this site with every coil I have. :detecting:Hours 2 thru 4 were hoppin' though.:clapping:
First silver with the SEF coil was a Barber dime at 8" ...and there was a pulltab ON top of it.
I then picked up a few 7" to 8" wheaties...then a deepie at close to 10" down.:wiggle:
Plugged along and the coil was very stable the whole time. I then got a fairly solid silver hit...but it only sounded one way...yet it repeated every pass. I dug down and saw a nail in the bottom side of the hole...then ran the probe...yippee!...silver sound.:clapping: I popped out another chunk of dirt...then rubbed the bottom of the hole with my fingers....BIG SILVER lying perfectly flat at the bottom of the hole.:bouncy: Pulled her out...stared at her...then ran the probe in the hole...another silver hit. I thought I was going to get 2 halves in one hole....but it wasn't to be. It WAS however a silver 1937 Washington quarter. My first big silver pocket spill in years.:super:
After running water over the Walker...man is it a beauty...the nicest one I've ever found:smoke:
The tiny little ring was found about 8" down and also had a pulltab in the hole with it. I looked and looked for the center stone...but never found it:confused:...oh well...it's marked Sterling.
Sorry for cutting this post short...but work time is here. :stars:
The SEF 10 x 12 coil was very STABLE...SEPARATED very well.....felt much LIGHTER than I expected it to...and went DEEP on a couple of wheaties...almost 10" down on two of them. This coil is a KEEPER for me and will fit well into my arsenal.

Great finds Bryce. that's a sweet looking half dollar. I've been debating between the SEF and the ML 11" and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on the SEF. Hopefully it'll sniff out the same big silver you're finding. HH

are you still going with the semi auto 26, conductive, -22 IM? I only ask because I took my 12" excelerator out today and found (in the ground I was searching) that the semi auto did smooth things out, but when I switched back to manual sens, I got a louder response on the same target.

That's the only thing that causes me angst with detecting....the raw depth one gets with manual sens. vs. smoothing out the soil matrix in semi auto, which does help get a clearer signal in a bad trash/soil matrix. I suspect I'll continue to use both, depending on soil/trash conditions, but I wish there was a way to help decide which one is best for a given site. The many tones the targets create combined with "soil feedback" due to higher sens settings plays hell with my ears sometimes! :)

Only good thing found today was a '35-S Merc dime@ 5"...but hey, it was silver and a welcome sight!

That is cool to find especially when it is covered by trash,
Bryce - forgive me for asking but are you an ex-jock or athlete? You actually look like the type that would beat up a metal header - LOL. I find it very funny the type casts and stereotypes that follow us around. I haven't noticed anybody on this forum and definitely not my hunting partner that fits the "Here's to you Bud Light Bear commercial" stereotype.

a jock...and then was a bouncer at a nightclub up until a few years ago. I was also an avid motocross racer up until I hit 35. The last 10 years....I have slooowwweeed down a bunch:super: :bouncy:

Great finds, as usual, Bryce. It sounds like Kelly & I are in the same boat. I have been thinking I need another coil comparable in size to the
stock SE coil but one that will perform better. I was about to jump on the FBS-1050 bandwagon, but now that these two new coils (SEF 10x12 & the SE Pro 11") are out on the market, it sounds like either of them may be a better choice. I bet both of them are lighter than the FBS-1050. Weight isn't the most important factor but it is one that shouldn't be overlooked. I haven't checked yet, but there may not be a big price difference between what people are asking for the FBS-1050 & either of these two new coils. I'm looking forward to the 3-day holiday weekend & hope to get a lot of hunting time in. Maybe all three days depending on the weather. I'll be disappointed if I can't score at least a couple of silvers before next Monday.

Take care & HH,
Dan.

my 6" excelerator the way it hits.....HARD and SOLID...because of the way it separates. It's a hot coil and it was VERY sensitive to small objects for me.

I told you that Park is LOADED! I'd be working from one side of the Park to the other so I wouldn't miss too much. Working a Pattern will increase the finds so I hope on your next outing that you kick some butt once again brother. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH to you.
