Hi y'all, I just got a AT Pro about 3 weeks ago (thanks Richard at Backwoods another fair trade) only been out with it a couple of times finding clad.
What was nice was it started raining and I kept hunting, anyway liking it so far and I can't wait to get back at it.

Cool! Welcome! You did some good research and asked all the right questions back in Dec. That was not an impulsive buy on your part, you took your time, if I remember right, you swing a ML too?

Gotta say, this 'Pro is really something...sure a guy can nit-pick some minor mfg. details, but technologically, as an overall all weather hunter, its got our confidence on gold and silver.

You stay in touch and be prepared to give a good account of your experience with it...some of these fellows have been hunting for a very long time, and they do right well with it...I'm a noob, this will be my 4th year in field detecting and 2nd year employing the Pro hunting primarily gold in the wet...What type of hunting do you figure you will be using it for? It seems to be killer in just about every subset of our sport, mega clad, relic, old silver, and especially gold! With the exception of hunting wet salt, even though theres been some good finds in the salt, that seems to be the general consensus, a few better choices out there for hunting wet salt, 'course they all cost twice as much, but if a fellow is staying in the fresh, its a MUST HAVE! .Good Luck!

You purchased a very capable machine. It has found many relics, jewelry and silver/gold rings as shown by various forum posts. If you have any questions....just ask! There are many polished AT Users who would gladly help.

Thanks guys, as y'all can see I've been here 5 years but under another (inappropriate) user name, needed to change it and detectors. mudpuppy your intuitive, I have been on a
long search for a detector for my type of hunting I did have a ML, it worked good on Daytona beach one week out of the year but not so much at iron infested home. Soon as I cranked up
the Pro in zero mode I heard why I've had such a hard time at one park with all detectors, the iron audio really "told" me what was happening better than other units used here. Jim I live in Ga. just east of Atlanta Motor Speedway near a town called Mcdonough that was founded in 1823, I guess that's the reason for all the iron, sounds off like pop corn with
every swing but I still had success with the Pro more than other detectors. I started with the standard mode but quickly moved to pro mode, it sounded better in the iron and high
trash than the others, using the iron audio (loving that iron audio) plus pin point mode made it easy to pick through it all. I am itching to get back out soon CW hunting in some of the
places I've hunted in the past south of Atlanta, its getting more scarce by the day with the building boom were having around here. I been following this forum for a long time and been
impressed with what I've read, well thanks again guys I'm looking forward to posting and reading your post.

Yeah, I know about where you are. I did a stint in Atlanta in the early 70's and had a business in Columbus a few years after that. You sure do have some good relic hunting areas there. The A T ranks right up there with the few best detectors for sniffing out goodies among iron and trash. Post some goodies for us and again, good luck. HH jim tn

I lived in Marietta and Kennesaw for a couple of years just prior to the Olympics, and they were putting in roads and skyscrapers just as fast as they could build 'em. Beautiful country & lots of history, too bad I wasn't detecting at the time!

Welcome to the forum. I love the At/Pro and the way it separates the trash from the good stuff. I still dig lots of trash myself, but it must be because sometimes I don't get out much with it and have to re-learn it each time. I prefer water hunting, but do like to land hunt after a rain or during rain as long as it's not thundering or lightning.

Hi, and welcome to world of swinging a Pro. Two things I mention to new owners (keep in mind, I'm no expert) 1- found my first two gold rings ever with the Pro last April, they were small ladies rings, one rang in at a 45, and the other was a 46. Small gold can be in the 40's. 2- (and you probably have already read this when you were doing your research) the 5X8 coil is a great addition to the stock coil on the Pro. I love the target/trash separation, and it makes the unit light enough that I have gone on 5 hour hunts with it (I am an old fart LOL). good luck, keep us posted on how you do. Artie
