Hello, I just started swinging the 705 about about a week ago. I have primarily used the Coiltek "Digger" 3 kHz 6" DD coil. I used the HF 6" for a couple minutes & due to it's thing for iron I didn't really care for it at this time. For the past week I've been focusing on a large tall grass field that's located on my 5 acre lot, which has a history of 2 older homesteads, turn of the century cannery & a mid 1800's logging camp. I was able to locate 2 old foundations out there under the thick tall grass. Although I've found quite a bit already, the "Digger" coil was running just a little too hot for my cluttered soil. I sure could use a possible future Coiltek "Digger II" MF 6" DD coil up here in my neck of the woods. Hear that Minelab & Coiltek? 
My GB was from 8 to the mid-teens & I was using regular ground tracking. My sensitivity was set @ 20-25. When set at 20, I probably lost 3" in depth. I was either hunting wide open in AM or C&T pattern 4 with just 8 & 48 notched out. I was swinging very slow/3-4 secs. & an even slower "zen" turtle speed in the heavier stuff. Because not only do I have hot ground & rocks, there's tons of can slaw & rusty iron bits scattered in my soil. As you can tell, I dug a bunch of iffy targets & I filled a 5 gal. bucket about 1/4 of the way w/ non keepers.
Although I like looking for coins, nothing beats trying to put together a puzzle of older personal artifacts. My area was settled around 1850 & my property deeds go back that far. I didn't find any silver coins yet, but then again the folks from these parts didn't have a lot of money back then. I was lucky enough to find 4 wheat's; 1920,1937,1939,1956, & two Buffalo Nickels; a 1919 & one no date. I also found a pocket spill of 4 late 1800's Chinese coins on a path next to the woods. Also, a 1935 New Mexico 1 Mil tax token, a WWI era U.S. ARMY Great Seal, American Button Co. Newark, NJ Button, a 1941 trappers tag. An old ornate women's picture locket that had faded photo paper from two pictures still inside of it & a 1920's Art Deco F-R.CO. gold filled/plated bangle bracelet. A brass plate that says NORTH POLE, so you know what that means, "there is such a thing". Along with other interesting personal artifacts, some of which might just make it into the Whatzit forum. One double bladed ax head had 1847 Warranted stamped into it. The biggest thing for me was trying to find the earliest date & that was it so far. Some old buried mason jar lids led me to one unbroken mason jar with the lid on it, no $$$ cache in it though. Oh' well, onward & upward... But it did lead me to an old Pabst bottle, which turned into a buried glass/bottle dump pile. This was very cool. There was also quite a few different shot gun shell & rifle cartridge casings that I found along the way. I cataloged all of them, so if anyone is interested, I'll happily post the list. Maybe I can get more of a history time line from them as well?
Before I go any further here. I'm going to plant a test garden, along with some settings & equipment tweaks that might help my 705 perform more stable in my area. Thanks in part to Digger & Old Longhair's help! These certainly are two totally unselfish guys that have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to metal detecting & they're more than eager to share it. We're very lucky to have them!
