Last weekend I won an XP Deus at our club hunt and looking forward to this new journey with the Deus. I have followed you through your posts, learning lots of new information and thank you for all your posts. What would you do different if you could start all over again? Again new to the Deus......

The Deus is a great machine - congrats on winning yours !

I really wouldn't change what I did - all I did was ...

(1) Keep reading the posts in this forum and ask questions.
(2) Watch Gary's ( from UK) video series on the Deus.
(3) Be sure to get a copy of Andy Sabisch's Deus Handbook.
(4) Keep it simple in the beginning - I just ran in "Basis 1" for the first month - (made a lot of good finds !)

Good Luck !

Learn in Deus Fast but change the frequency to 8, changes the tones to full, drop the reactivity to 2 and change the silencer to -1

I had so much experience with every other detector out there it was easy for me to get used to it quickly. I dove straight into the iron with Fast and continue to find stuff today my other detectors missed. For relics, it's my favorite machine.

I would suggest just try using Basic1 straight out the box,its a very good and easy to use starter prog, infact alot of folks just use 1 or 2 of the factory preset ones,i would say that although full tones is popular i personally would not recommend it straight away as it can overload your brain while learning.
