I think I've been bitten by the metal detecting bug. LOL!
I'm using my late father's 1974 White's Goldmaster 66TR, some small gardening tools and a pair of very comfy knee pads. I'm a pretty tall guy, so I would like to either find a longer coil boom for this detector, or possibly make one. Not sure if it's coated aluminum or what. I went sweeping around behind my grandfather's property yesterday and all I found was a startled box turtle. LOL!
But, I'm undeterred. I'd like to find a local group that enjoys the hobby and get some info on good places to detect. I know that many property owners don't want some fella with a hand trowel digging up their land like an overgrown gopher. So, it's hard to know where to go and what's "allowable". So far, I've been hunting around on my family's property.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
