New Vista Metal Detector ( Watch This Space !! )

Sorry Ziggy for the double posting, didn't see yours on my computer till now.
-------------------------------------------
Not being able to lock the toggle switch into all metal might be an issue for some that relic hunt. But, coin and jewelry hunters generally hunt in a disc mode with low disc setting.
Correct me if I am wrong but, most detectors with two or more tones only have this feature in a disc mode. As well as tone breaks, notching and iron volume. All metal modes are single tone. Now if anyone else thinks this might be an issue, now is the time to voice it, before, production units roll out. I wouldn't think a toggle switch change to a non-spring return to center would be an issue.

The Vista X Ziggy is testing is a pre-production unit to look for bugs and anything else that needs tweaking changing. Not the pre-production unit testers will be trying out with all the tweaks and changes. If the testers then determine the pre-production units are up to snuff the actual production units will roll out. Maybe the testers will also suggest some changes for the production units. The plus side to all this is that DeepTech announced the Vista X and some of its features ahead of final testing, letting you know a cool machine is almost ready to be launched, instead of keeping it hush hush like many manufacturers. This announcement also helps in getting feedback from like us forum members before production units roll out to see if any changes are warranted.......in making a better product.

But, because the disc setting goes lower into the Iron range, it would accept all metals, yet reject some ground noise and falsing that may occur in all metal mode? Now if like the Vista Gold, set the disc very low and when using two tones you will hear both iron and and non-ferrous targets allowing you to analyze what is in the ground. Turning iron volume down reduces the constant report from these targets, you know its there without being annoying. Allows you to hear two dissimilar targets near each other.

Got to remember this ain't our grandfather's De'Sota. The toggle switch should be taken care of. Hopefully. No sweat. It's good the way their introducing it, to work out the bugs. ? Dimensions of the coil. Yep, could be the one.

The toggle switch(es) should be located and be big enough it can be operated with a gloved hand in cold weather without having to adjust or manipulate the grip on the detector. It should have protection from dirt and debris entering the mechanism and have a positive feel when changing modes or locking the detector in a mode.

The battery box should be suspended above the ground when sat down so as to prevent water and dirt from entering headphone connections or collecting around the battery compartment threads or on/off switch.

The battery compartment and arm cuff should be solidly attached to the search rod and able to withstand rugged use without loosening or breaking away. Armcuff should be wide enough to accept a forearm and coat as one would wear searching in cold weather. The detector should not tip over when sat down.

Searchrod should be able to withstand frequent assembly/disassembly without the connection points becoming loose.

Just a few thoughts.

Because of the continuing periodical holidays here - little delay of my answer, will try to sort together my answers to you.
The standard coil for Vista X is with size 28 cm/24 cm what is about 11"/9". The weight together with coil cover is around 500 g.
At the moment is being developed new design 5,7" round DD coil especially for Vista X, what will be on the market at the latest after a month maybe.
As well concentric coil with different size ( I read your posts, guys :) ) - a little later.
The toggle switches, if you didn't noticed or maybe can't be seen very good on the photos, are protected against dirt with caps.
An idea for such detector for american market come from one DeepTech user, one of you guys.
The idea was to be made detector with "a full range disc. up to zinc pennies". Тhis has been achieved.
Our test here show that detector reject zinc pennies on position 41-42 of Alt. disc. Pull Tabs - on position 45. You can test for yourself.
You can preset your Alt. Disc. depending of your wishes what you want to find and what - not.
The switch in ALL METAL mode is to be made more easy the GB even for new detectorists.
We think, this unit must be not compared with the other Vista units. The unit was made with different idea and for different purposes.
With this unit you receive some more options ( not comparing with the other Vistas, but as in the other Vista units ) - you can work in two tone,
aswell in silent discrimination - far left position of Iron Volume.
More information from me soon.
Here little movie about Vista X and can:

Looking good, think owners of the new X will be happy with it. Especially now that they know there will be other coils available for it.
:clapping:

...............nice 'mellow' tone sound to it before pulling the trigger - i.e. in Search Disc Mode
[ sounds like ] there [ could be ] great audio tonal information from the X

I’m patiently waiting for more info on this machine, particularly from Keith, I just moved to SC last week and have to find spots to hunt anyway. I’m sure the Vista X is gonna be awesome! I’d like to see a VGG put in that housing and battery system on a straight shaft.

DeepTech Vista X
(Discrimination Demonstration Video)

Hello all
In the short video below we show you how the alternative discrimination works over some wanted and unwanted items, we show in the video that you can discriminate them American nightmare coins that are the Zinc Pennies and in the video it’s a 1993 Zinc Penny, also we show other items like coke that is very undesirable to many but the Vista X is able to punch through the coke to find a silver Hammered coin underneath.

Video link here.... https://youtu.be/Z7U0E08Sxzg

Will be doing field videos soon so please keep tuned in.

Many thanks.

DeepTech Vista X
(Coke and Discrimination)

Certain areas around the globe being able to discriminate coke can be irrelevant but for some detectorist it can be very important, so this is where the extended discrimination range on the Vista X can come in handy for all.

The Vista X will give you a few options so to say to when dealing with coke depending how much you dig in general.

So if your fields have a huge amounts of coke and you’re digging the stuff every other signal then you may wish to set your main discrimination at the level to just to knock out coke, but doing so you’ll need to reduce your sweep speed a little to compensate the higher levels of discrimination when working on a heavily iron laden fields, not by much but slower than you normally would if you have a high natural swing tempo, this is not only with the Vista X but in general with many machines on the market so this practice is not new to help recovery speed when raising discrimination levels.

When you’re in the fields and coke comes up rarely then you don’t need to knock out coke whatsoever, so it’s best then just to run your Vista X like all the other machines you may have, and that’s with as little discrimination as possible to get the best performance and to maximise the finds in your pouch at the end of each session.

When you know coke is somewhere in between lots and little whilst you’re detecting then this is the point you should set and use the second discrimination to identify coke, this will reduce your time digging this unwanted stuff and allow your main focus digging clean signal solely depending on your needs.

So to sum it up...

Low Coke levels, just set main discrimination to knock out nails and no real need to use the alternative discrimination.

Medium Coke Levels, set your main discrimination to knock out nails and then set your alternative discrimination to knock out coke.

High Coke Levels, set your main discrimination to knock out coke and then no need to use your alternative discrimination.

Its all about experimenting and understanding what Vista X is telling you, many longterm Vista users can call coke many times before digging the stuff even without using enough discrimination to knock coke out, all comes down to experience and time in the field.

Everyone has different needs from a detector so it’s all about setting the Vista X up to help you best out in the field.

DeepTech Vista X
(Low Gain and Threshold Run)

Took the Vista X to some old pasture today that I’ve worked well before in the past, big area so the coil will always find a patch of land that’s not been searched as with any big area of land.

I find the Vista X a different beast to the other machines in the Vista range and as like the differences between the Smart and Vista Gold Gain the differences are there with this new model also, it’s unique in many ways but today it showed me how much stability and power it has at the same time.
The ground was rock hard beyond 6-7 inches so I wanted to keep the levels low in order not to dig deep, so ran 20 on the Gain and 25 on the Threshold and zero discrimination, very tame to say on the power front and I was still gabbing items the length of the probe with good solid audio, clear audio also.

I even gave up on two digs as the ground was too hard to penetrate without spending 20 minutes or more to retrieve whatever maybe be there beyond a probs length, but again I was still running low settings on the Gain and Threshold, just glad the permission will still be available throughout the winter for when the ground softens.

I think the Vista X really will open up a few eyes with its performance and now with the extended discrimination range to help you ID certain targets way beyond just the iron with some time under your belt.

Very good machine indeed like others are already saying.

Ziggy

Exactly what I found when first bench testing, I set both threshold and gain at 25.
Pretty interesting metal detector overall with some interesting tuning options.
