Newbie Metal Detector with an ACE 250

mrclean67

New member
Hi all ...

I am pretty much a newbie at metal detecting - only a couple of months - and have recently purchase an ACE 250.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My latest find is a pendant with John F. and Robert Kennedy ... I believe it is silver. I will be posting photos soon ...

Mrclean67, you have come to the right place for advice on the 250. The 250 is a wonderful machine for a begginer and even seasoned vetreans.

Can't wait to see some pics.!!!!

Let us know what it is you would like to know.
Give it a couple weeks then you will have an idea of what problems seem to show up most often.
The c.d. says to hunt in all metal mode at first......I disagree. Far too many signals. Use the coin setting until you get two or three sets of batteries run through the machine.

Great choice you will love your 250 !!! keep your senc down set it to high and it will go nuts. I have only had 10 hours of detecting with mine and have totaled

Sounds like a cool pendant. Keep the sensitivity low enough so you don't get a lot of falsing. 4-6. Living legend UW says 4. Hunt in coin or jewelry mode. Don't get discouraged by pop tops and bits of can. Some day what you're sure is a pop top will be a gold ring. Search these archives for the pinpointing video from another pro here named khouse (it changed my detecing after only one view) and John's pinpointing diagram. Both will make you a better hunter.

I look forward to some photos.

Chris

Here is my John F. Kennedy / Robert Kennedy pendant ... my son-in-law pointed out that it does say STERLING on the back ...

Any ideas where I can look up information on this find ????

Well, most of the great advice has been presented, so my generic suggestion is BEEP-DIG BEEP-DIG BEEP-DIG BEEP-DIG BEEP-DIG
