Hello everyone.....
I'm new to the site and metal detecting... all in all.. I don't have one as of yet.. I live in the Chicago land area.. and it's cold and snow on the grown.. but spring is coming.. and when the ground gets warm.. I'm looking forward to "walking"

I would like to know if anyone know of any good areas in the south side of Chicago along i-80 and maybe route 45 for that is my area...
I've looked in the Internet.. and found nothing that would be of help.. so I turn to you.. help

Try the maps and mapping forum,Illinois is on page three.
But maps won't help unless you know something in particular you are looking for.
Try looking for History of (County)Illinois,on the internet,Look for parks, schools, old churches.etc.
But (ALWAYS) get permission to metal detect the places you find.Usually, parks are allowed,
but still nice to make sure.
If you need me to find you a park or two let me know,I am the moderator of the Mapping forum,
and always glad to help.

Theres a ton of parks around there.

so your saying parks are a great place to go...? Really?

why is that? because they have not been messed with?

I know alot of parks around me.. would of never of guessed...
I guess I feel that there is not much of a history in my area not like the civil war or anything like that...

As long as I'm here... I have a reas in MI that I want to check out that people go swimming.. what would be a good detector for that? any ideas?

There are several good detectors to use in water if that is what you meant.
just depends on what you are willing to spend.and how serious you are going to get, detecting.
