Nicest Merc I have dug this year

Met up with Kyle (Nooberz) for a nice sunday hunt. We hit a couple old houses, yards were real small. I got a 1918 buffalo, 4 wheats, 1917 merc dime which is the nicest shape merc I have dug all year. Most the early ones I find are a lot more worn. Got a token that just says 78 AM CO. no idea on that one. But is was a nice sunny day to spend digging.

I work full time monday thru friday........I am 37 yrs old. I try to hunt 2-3 times during week after work for an hour, then I hunt 6 hrs saturday and about 4 hours on sunday. I average 12-13 hrs a week hunt time

I forgot to mention in my post above this dime was 1" deep, right on TOP of an old tree root. I am thinking the root pushed it close to the surface. I was expecting to dig a clad dime. I dig ALL dime signals no matter of the depth, could be a silver ring........or a mint 1917 merc..lol

That 1917 Mercury dime is in super condition! Nice job.

WOW! That is in GREAT condition! Nice Find!

Another great hunt from the dedicated!!! Thanks for the pictures Terry! Congratulations on the finds!

That is one gorgeous Mercury Dime. It also looks like you took your time and cleaned it properly. No scratches or smears on the silver surface. Good job all around.

Beautiful mercury dime Terry !

The Merc's are one great looking coin - one of my favorite designs.

I have had two coin guys look at this dime one graded it MS55 and the other one said it would be MS63......amazing it was in the ground!

Tell your friend Mint State (MS) starts at 60, but I do agree that coin is probably a MS 62 or better. I don't believe I have ever at any time seen a coin come from the ground that clean and perfect. Says a lot about your handling of the coin once it was dug. Congratulations PERIOD. Rick:clapping:

I dunno, maybe I misunderstood him.......I get numbers mixed up..lol

Yep, that's a nice Merc alright! Your "token" looks more like a luggage or key tag to me.
