nickels

Does any one else get some weird actual nickel readings? I know target proximity, ground mineralization, depth and corrosion are factors but I've been getting some nickels with digital readings of 12, 13, 14 ferrous and 18 - 24 conductive where nothing else shows after recovering the nickel. I'm pretty sure I'll be digging a trash target only to find a nickel, re-scan the plug and hole using a wide open quick mask and nothing else shows. Pretty much using Goes4ever's settings, run both TTF and a modified Sabisch coin pattern. I will get some standard 12-13 readings for nickels but have found more nickels with these other readings. Most are in the 4" to 6" range and I use both the stock coil and a Sunray X8 coil. Running auto plus 3 also.

While out yesterday I collected three nickles. They were coming in at 14-16. But the sound is what gives me the feeling it's a nickle. I was running Auto +3 and only getting a sensitivity reading of 19 on channel 9. Other channels were tried but the sensitivity was lower.

I've been getting nickels at the normal range. Never that high. I have been digging some those CO ranges 18-24 but it has all been trash to this point.

Most of the time a nickle here in the midwest in clean ground wil be a 12-13 /14. when I get the higher numbers like 12-18/23 it's usually a pulltab. But I also get V-nickles in the higher range. It's getting harder to get up of of my knees but I still can't pass up those possible gold/nickle readings. Was in a yard last week and was getting new dimes/pennies and a few wheaties at 5-8 inch's and got two Indians only 3 inchs deep.Go figure..... Two to Three inchs of Snow last night. Arrrrrrrg but melting today maybe one more week till the end (Rats) Grumpy (And Getting Grumpier By the Minute) ;)

nope nickels NEVER are 12-13 for me UNLESS they are shallow modern nickels, buffs and V's always have crazy numbers. I have posted this over and over on many posts. I promise you if you want nickels you got to be willing to dig a wider range of numbers

Yep from 10-11-12-13-14 cond here for me in my soil. I Thought I had cleaned out this small park around the corner from me last year with my E after I got it but then tried TTF and the nickels just kept on a comming???? I have a good ear for the nickel sound it's just above iron and foil the lowest sounds, it's slightly higher but if your going too fast with the swing it's easy to miss em as it's just a blip most of the time. That may be a sign you are still going to fast if your missing nickels and finding the other targets!!

the reason you get more nickels in TTF is because of the open screen, nickels JUMP all over and in coin mode, MOST people use TOO much disc and miss them!
