NiZN Re-chargeables

Interesting and good information at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickel–zinc_battery
What I see is that they need a special charger, one that will charge the cells to 1.9VDC and then shut off. The NiZN do not take well to trickle chargers.
The higher voltage should not be a problem, BUT I would check with the detector's manufacturer and get something back in writing so the warranty will not be voided by the use of the higher voltage cells.

A bit more information on the AA cell voltage.
